Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Johnson.
Truly Southern through and through, Lisa’s true passion is making old things new again. The love of antiques and one of a kind items shines through into daily living. Whether it is in someone’s home designing the perfect space, in the fields of Warrenton, TX at Zapp Hall buying or selling fabulous oddities or working in a showroom.
She works her magic in her red barn just outside of Rockwall, TX. She resides in Rockwall along with her husband Mark. Lisa is the mother to grown children including a set of triplets. Her dog Jack, an Australian shepherd is by her side.
Looking for a way to earn a little extra money during the holiday season of 2006, Vintage at Heart became a viable business and began to grow.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The path was not always smooth. The main focus in the beginning was serving goods and home decor handcrafted from spent wine barrels. This only enhanced the love of old things new and antiques. But with material shortages from time to time and labor issues within the spent wine cask business. The business began to take a different turn and is now more of a one of kind endeavor which is where my true passion lies.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Vintage at Heart by Lisa Johnson – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am known for French Riddling Racks, European grain sack pillows, small French antiques as well as where it all started- swings and lazy Susan’s.
Detail, detail is oh so important. I love being able to help others with the small details whether it be in their home, outdoor space or showroom.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have cut back on the pieces that my heart no longer enjoyed. I am now focusing and wanting to continue focus on the eclectic side of life. I have recently renovated a vintage trailer and love staying in it during antique week. I love to travel and my heart is in the islands. I would love to either continue to visit on a regular basis and continue my designs. I also work part- time for an apparel showroom. I have met some of the most wonderful people.
