Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyndsey Johnson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hi, I’m Lyndsey Johnson from Everyday Lyndsey. In 2017, I spent 4 months traveling SE Asia with my 6-year-old daughter. That’s really when I was inspired to create my e-courses and get serious about growing my business.
On my blog, EverydayLyndsey.com, I write about building your brand, email marketing, finding your tribe, and more. I focus a lot on starting out your business… we all have to start somewhere. I know how hard it is to navigate the ever-changing entrepreneur life.
Essentially, I help passion-driven entrepreneurs launch, grow, and monetize their business. I create helpful courses and provide resources for starting a business and building an audience.
But my life used to be very different… I was working in a corporate job as a high-level marketing executive for a national firm. From the outside, it may have seemed like I had a pretty good thing going: a corner office, a high six-figure salary, corporate retreats to exotic locations and a demanding position with a team to manage. With that job came a ton of stress and responsibility.
After years of long hours, travel and unrealistic deadlines, I was burned out. More importantly, I was missing time with my young daughter. I am a single mom. I have one responsibility in life; to provide for my daughter—and that means more than just financially. She deserves to have me around.
When my health failed, and I was forced to take medical leave, I realized things had to change. I had to create my own version of freedom to have control over my schedule. I needed to escape the city life and travel the world. That is where I found my inspiration for Everyday Lyndsey (in Bali to be exact).
I started my blog two years before I published my first post. I just didn’t have the time or the inspiration. I didn’t even know where to start. I had spent my entire life making someone else a fortune and building their business.
Finding myself with a lot more free time after leaving my corporate job, I joined a ton of mom groups, small business groups, and entrepreneur groups. I began by mentoring others needing help with starting a business, offering my expertise on different marketing techniques. I critiqued other blogs, sales funnels and affiliate strategies.
Then one day, I had my Ah-ha! moment. Most of the people who needed my help didn’t have a lot of money to spend or the time to research everything needed to build a successful business to scale. That’s when I decided to create my first e-course. It was the perfect balance that allowed me to provide my expertise to more people without the high cost of one-on-one coaching.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think any business owner that claims there were no challenges along the way is living in a fantasy world. When I first started out I was doing tasks but I missed the big picture.
After several months of spending each day doing tasks for my business, without purpose, I took a step back and re-aligned my goals and priorities. I created a business road map that covers everything you need to do as a new business owner. Everything from the basics such as filing an incorporation to marketing your business in a thoughtful and meaningful way.
The second thing I did was create annual and quarterly plans for my business. This helped me focus, increase productivity, and achieve written goals. These resources (the road map and the plans) helped me build a scalable business. I was no longer doing tasks I was making an impact.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Everyday Lyndsey story. Tell us more about the business.
I help other entrepreneurs launch and grow their online business. Whether it’s a blog or a freelance business, my resources and courses are designed to cover everything from launching to monetizing.
My website EverydayLyndsey.com has many free resources to help entrepreneurs and small businesses. My business model is unique in the fact that I truly care about helping others achieve success.
I know how awful the 9 – 5 grind can be (or 7 AM – 10 PM grind like my life used to be). I spent over a decade working in corporate America as a marketing executive. I’ve grown companies by the hundreds of millions of dollars. Many blogs or businesses today are started by people who have no real background in their niche. With a proven track record, I’m able to achieve results in less time.
But now, I have finally found my passion: helping others achieve a freedom-based lifestyle through building the business of their dreams. I’m a single mom so I relate to many of the entrepreneurs that struggle to start their own business. Time, money, and motivation are huge obstacles to overcome for many.
That’s why the resources that I create are designed to keep moving entrepreneurs forward on the right path to grow their business. I create resources I wish I had when I started out.
