Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyndsy Foshion.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lyndsy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As silly as it sounds, I knew I wanted to do hair when I was about ten years old. I practiced all sorts of cuts, and even tried to color my Barbie dolls’ hair with Clorox 2 and my washable markers. I loved the transformation that occurred, and the sense of pride I felt when I created something beautiful. I was heavily discouraged in high school from entering the beauty industry; which only drove me to pursue this career more and really prove my teachers wrong. While in cosmetology school, I fell even more in love with the personal connection that is made when someone trusts you with their hair. I was featured on Redken’s Instagram and sent new product releases, which has inspired me even more to pursue my dream.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I faced tons of push back in high school: from the counselors who sent me home with every college pamphlet in their office, to the teacher that told me I was pursuing a life of poverty. Thankfully, both my parents went to trade schools, which helped affirm my belief that you can make good money, even if a four years college isn’t meant for you.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Hair By Lyndsy story. Tell us more about the business.
My personal brand is Hair By Lyndsy, and I am currently a stylist at Becks Beauty Company. I specialize in live in dimensional blondes and am known for my balayage and babylights. My dedication to creating the perfect look for my guests lifestyle and goals is what sets me apart. I am proud of how quickly I have grown my business as well as all my accolades for being such a young stylist.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t know if I would say luck, as much as I would say God’s blessings. I have had the opportunity to travel across the US for education and met some amazing role models. I am truly blessed to have established an amazing connection with some of the top brands in the hair industry so early in my career.
