Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Quick.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lynn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have struggled with my weight all my life. I blamed it on thyroid, pregnancies, and the stress of raising a family and teaching Kindergarten/first grade for 40 years. When I was 67, my daughter, who lost 100 pounds, told me about a new lifestyle approach. It’s not just a diet that focuses on food-it teaches a whole new mindset. It’s not about pills, counting points or calories- we learn how to eat healthily. Following a very simple program faithfully, I was able to lose 65 pounds in six months and get off my blood pressure and cholesterol medications but most importantly – I have kept the weight off for well over two years. I was even able to fit into my wedding dress for the first time in 45 years!! People not only noticed a change in me physically but mentally as well. They wanted to know “the secret!” So I decided to pay it forward and become a health coach who has become my passion. I LOVE helping others get healthy, gain their life back and rebuild their self-esteem.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is never a smooth road. We are constantly faced with obstacles no matter what our goals are – be it physical, emotional or financial. The biggest obstacle is our own mindset. How do we mentally react to challenges? One of the mottos of our company is to “Embrace the Obstacle”- the obstacle is the way. Every situation in our life – be it good or bad, hard or easy is more than just a random occurrence. All of our life experiences test our character, grit, attitude, mindset, love, grace, and more. When you look at challenges from this vantage point, you realize that even defeat can have advantages – it has become your mentor in what NOT to do!
With my own weight loss journey, I was frustrated when the scale didn’t go down the way my mind wanted it to. I had to learn patience and endurance – plus now, it helps me encourage others who are experiencing those struggles along the way. When a client decides to go off program, I have learned to no longer take it personally. Everyone has their own journey and many times, the client truly is not yet mentally ready. When COVID hit, I was convinced that no one would want to even think about their health during this time. I could have easily just stepped back and “stay put” until the storm blew over. But instead, I went full force in my advertising, pushed ahead and my client list actually doubled!
Please tell us about Quick n’ Healthy.
As a health coach, I first assess each client’s health condition, their present lifestyle and stress level, and then together, we develop their goals and dreams for their “new life.” After determining which program is best for them, I keep in contact via text, phone, or zoom to see how they are doing. My clients are all throughout the U.S. We have a variety of resources, videos, and chats that are available to them as well. Most of what is taught and discussed have nothing to do about food-its all about mindset. I love our company because of the integrity of the people I work with and what we represent. We remind each other about “living above the line.” (Are our thoughts serving us?) Our goal is to “Change the World-One Healthy Habit at a Time.”
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My strength has always been one of being a compassionate and caring person. I love helping people, which is why I have a wide variety of volunteering jobs here in our community. I think of my coaching more as a mission rather than a business. I want people to have what I have! I’m a good listener and have enough life experiences behind me to empathize and counsel others. As far as the business aspect, I don’t give up. I push through even when I don’t feel like it. I always hear my mentor whispering in my ear, “Do It Anyway!” I’m the tortoise in Aesop’s fable!!
