Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Mary Ellen Kirwan.
Dr. Kirwan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started Integrated Medical wanting to combine my passion for Chiropractic Medicine with the latest treatment for pain and inflammation using Regenerative Therapy. Too many of my patients were coming to me stating they had to have a replacement of a knee or a hip at a young age. While still, other patients were taking to many medications to control the pain and inflammation they were experiencing. We use a team approach consisting of Chiropractors and Medical providers that work together under one roof, This can save patients the trouble of visiting different healthcare professionals to treat the issues an individual might be experiencing. We have been able to help many patients that felt like they had tried everything else with no success. Once a patient comes to Integrated Medical and understands what we have to offer they are more comfortable making the decision to receive treatment. They learn that it is not a pain relief treatment that lasts only a short while and the pain returns. They understand that using Stem Cell Therapy not only reduces their pain and inflammation, but we are also renewing, regrowing and if needed restoring the tissue.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been somewhat of an uphill battle. Education is the most important thing. Many people have a preconceived idea of what Stem Cell therapy is and where they come from. To me, knowledge is key to getting the public to understand that the old information about StemCells is false and that it is the future of medicine. I also have to get the public to understand the difference between Stem Cell Therapy which we offer at Integrated Medical and PRP which some facilities are advertising as Stem Cell treatments. The problem with using the patients’ blood which is called PRP is that the older we are the less Stem Cells we have in our body. These cells are old and do not have the capability of repairing tissue and reducing inflammation. The patient often has very little to no response to this type of treatment. It may be a cheaper treatment but the outcome is poor. We use new cells that are young and plentiful to repair, renew and restore damaged tissue and reduce pain and inflammation.
Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
Integrated Medical is a Medical Facility that offers Regenerative Medicine, Chiropractic, Rehabilitation, Massage Therapy and Nutritional Counseling. As the owner, I perform all the Chiropractic services and consult on all of the Regenerative Therapy cases as well as provide all the educational presentations to patients. We specialize in Regenerative Medicine using Stem Cell Treatments to renew, regrow and restore damaged and inflamed tissue. I am most proud of the way our patients have responded to the Stem Cell treatments they received here. Some of the patients felt like they were at the end of their rope and would have to always live in pain. We have been able to offer an alternative to the many medications prescribed for pain and inflammation including Opioids.
What sets us apart from the other companies is that we treat each patient as an individual instead of a number. I personally am involved in every aspect of the patient’s treatment plan. Putting a patient at ease and feeling comfortable is what we do best.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like best about Dallas is the diversity of cultures we have living in and around the Metroplex. There is always some activity going on around Dallas. The cost of living here is good compared to many other areas of the country. The traffic is my least favorite and I imagine most peoples thing about Dallas.
