Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Hale.
Mary Hale is a mother, wife, musician, composer, teacher, music therapist, entrepreneur, and half-marathon runner! She is the owner of Mary Hale’s Studio in Arlington, TX. The studio has grown to serve 100+ families. Mary is also the co-founder of a non-profit organization called Awaken Ensemble. Awaken is a chamber choir in Arlington that raises money for music education and other AISD programs. We have a scholarship fund to provide music lessons and music therapy services to students in the ‘Families in Transition’ program. This is an AISD program that helps students who are homeless or in transitional housing. Mary Hale holds a bachelor’s in music therapy with a minor in vocal performance from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. She has worked as a music therapist at Arizona State University through the company Higher Octave Healing. In addition, she has supervised music therapy practicum students through Arizona State University and West Texas A&M University and has worked as a music therapist in hospitals, school districts, 1:1 home settings, and nursing homes. She started her own business in Salado, TX, as a music therapist/private music lessons teacher in 2011 and moved her business to Arlington, TX, in 2014.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Yes and no.
No, because running your own business always has bumps along the way. It’s forever a learning process but progressively moving forward.
Yes, because there is such a hunger for music education and a need for music therapy.
Please tell us about Mary Hale’s Studio and Awaken Ensemble.
Mary Hale’s Studio offers Guitar, Piano, Cello, Voice, and ukulele Lessons. We also provide homeschool music classes and Music Therapy services.
I’m most proud of the progress made in my students and music therapy clients. Seeing success within them is a reflection of the love poured out in the learning process.
What sets the studio apart from others is that we provide SO MANY options!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Thinking of my business in more of the ‘big picture’… dreaming big and just going for it.
