Meet Melissa Goldberg of Melissa Dawn Lasered Art in Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Goldberg.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My degree is in nursing, however, I have always loved art and photography. My dad introduced me to lasering in 2017, and I was hooked from day one. I quickly realized anything I could design on the computer I could laser into wood, tumblers, or other items, and the sky was the limit! All I had to do was dream it and I could create it. It took lots of practice, however, I loved dreaming up projects for myself and our friends and family. My love for lasering led to the creation of Melissa Dawn Lasered Art and the evolution to a successful business where I could share my love of lasering with others.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My biggest challenge has been discovering my favorite and most popular items to laser. You can laser anything that is composed of natural materials, so as you can imagine, that includes a vast variety of items! After years of practice, I have discovered my love for beautiful pieces of wood and my love for tumblers to drink out of because I use them so much. From cutting boards, custom chess boards, wooden bookmarks, to wine tumblers – I love them all!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in hand-picking beautiful wooden pieces for various creations. I love finding that unique, stunning piece that will inevitably be turned into a serving board, a game board, a cutting board, a spoon holder, or anything we can dream up! We spend a lot of time designing the perfect logo for customers and we’re proud of the thought and determination that is put into every piece.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Tyler, TX as a shy girl who loved school, dance, and tennis. I attended Baylor University for a nursing degree and spent time working as an Emergency Room and pediatric nurse. The emergency room was where my shyness subsided and I became a confident young woman. Because of that confidence, I was able to take the leap to create Melissa Dawn Lasered Art and follow my creative dreams. I now live in Frisco with my husband, Matt, and two young children. I love showing them you can follow your dreams and be successful.
