Meet Michelle Herrera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Herrera.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been athletic since I was a kid. I played soccer from middle school up to when I was 22, I’m 32 now. After having my son at the age of 20 I played off and on, then just focused on family. It wasn’t until I was about 24 that I started working out, occasionally, you know just to stay active. Fast forward to 2017 when I had my daughters, twins, after that I fell off pretty bad! I was the biggest I have ever been, I wasn’t even that big while I was pregnant!

So I decided it was time to really focus on my health. With the help of my co-worker, she got me on a meal plan and held me accountable to working out after work. Then I was disciplined enough to do it on my own, and I did! I was always doing something, my favorite was running the stairs every Friday morning at Sunset High School. Fast forward again to October 2018 and I was at a point where I didn’t know what to do, I had already reached my weight-loss goal, so what now? I had several people ask me if I had ever competed, I would say “no, that’s not for me.”

But the seed was planted and the thoughts started rolling! “Maybe I could do this?!” So I went for it! Hired my Coach Walt and here I am competed in my first NPC Bikini competition and placed 3rd! I posted my entire journey on Instagram, honestly just to hold myself accountable. As time went on, so many women and men were writing me telling me how much I motivate them and honestly, that help keep me going so many times!

Has it been a smooth road?
Oh no! This journey has had its ups and downs! Changing your lifestyle doesn’t happen overnight. Temptation is a huge struggle. Here I am trying to change my eating habits and well you know, your friends and family all want to go out to eat, and well while you’re on prep you have to stay disciplined, and there were many times I gave in. Many times I let my emotions control me and I would eat everything except what was on my meal plan. I realized how much of an emotional eater I was. But honestly, I wouldn’t have learned about myself had I not failed so many times. We are human, and change is hard. So we fall and get back up and keep trying!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Michelle Herrera – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Ha, well I’m known for my fitness journey. I’m pretty open about the entire process. If you follow me, you see I worked my butt off to be where I am. I’m a wife, mother of three, daughter, friend and I work a full time a job.
