So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started working in the bakery when I was in high school, it was my first job ever. The manager let me have the freedom to practice decorating cakes at night when the bakery was slow. As I got older and the times were changing with what and how people wanted their cakes to look, so I started doing custom cakes and treats about 12 years ago.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, I moved to the DFW area about seven years ago. It was a bit of a challenge to move my business to another state where there are already so many talented cake artists. It took a little time to get my name out there but the first year, I was fortunate enough to be in contact with some people who would give me the opportunity to help get my name out there and by word of mouth the rest is history.
