Meet Morenike “Mo” Atunrase of Ebby Halliday Realtor Associate in Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morenike Atunrase.

Morenike, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I walked into an open house and met a guy (Realtor) who I kept in contact with. Years later, my teammates called me and said they had a new job opportunity in Kansas and asked if I could help locate a home. I couldn’t because I didn’t have my license, so I called the only person I knew in Real Estate. After speaking with him on the phone, he asked me if I had ever considered Real Estate for a career. My reply was, “No–I have no idea how it works.” After our phone call, I did some research and signed up for Real Estate courses!

Has it been a smooth road?
As a new entrepreneur, it has been a challenge to learn the responsibilities and duties of owning your own business. Understanding sales, building a database and marketing are a few of the major challenges I was faced with early in my career. With any new venture comes the fear of failure. You just have to step on the escalator and begin moving up!

Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about your work?
I’m fortunate enough to work for the most successful real estate brokerage in Dallas/Fort Worth and also the top 10 brokerages in the United States–Ebby Halliday, A Berkshire Hathaway Affiliate where I specialize in residential and commercial real estate. The transition of my career as an educator into a professional Realtor has been quite a journey.

With the transition, I was able to take several tactics from being an educator and apply them, such as building and maintaining relationships and organization. The biggest difference is my background as a professional athlete in the WNBA. Sports have allowed me to travel the world and experience various cultures and environments. In turn, I have been fortunate to have opportunities to work with clients who believe I am the best fit for the biggest purchase of their lives!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
