Meet Morgan Peña

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Peña.

Hi Morgan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Hello there! I am Morgan Pena and here is my story. Growing up, I always had a camera in my hand. I remember when we would go to Hot Springs Arkansas for vacation and I always had my film camera and couldn’t wait till we got home to develop it and add the photos to my photo albums.

Then came along digital compact cameras and I can’t tell you how many of those I went through because I used them so much. In 2016 I finally made the jump to getting my first DSLR camera. At the time I was still in school at Texas State University getting my bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy. I started as a hobby with just taking photos of my sweet Golden retriever Mia, and then (my at the time boyfriend, now husband) Ryan everywhere we went. From the river in San Marcos, Texas to every trip we ever went on. Then my classmate was so sweet to ask me to take her graduation photos, she became my first-ever client.

After graduation, I moved out to Dallas, Texas for my career and continued photography as a hobby for extra income. I Fully started my journey in 2017 and that is when I started my business as Simply Mo Photography. I started with mostly portraits, then it grew into families, couples, and now I am a wedding photographer. I am beyond blessed at how far my business has come and it all grew this way from the support of my AMAZING CLIENTS, my family, and friends’ support.

Photographs have always been so important to me. Memories frozen in time to look back on and cherish.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say being a business owner it is not always smooth and there are always struggles along the way. Every single bump ends up being a great learning experience and really has just help me grow and be a better photographer and business owner. One struggle that has helped me along the way very early in my career is to set boundaries and always make sure you have a contract. When I first started out, I only had people sign model agreements to be able to post their images on social media, and then I learned quickly that a contract really can help you not be taken advantage of.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
With Simply Mo Photography I specialize in Families, Senior portraits, and Weddings. I am a natural and vivid photographer, and I capture moments that freeze time so you can look back and remember your day or session exactly as it happened. I am most proud of all the things I have learned to grow, and I am continuing to grow through education and feedback. What sets me apart from others, is you are not just getting photographs taken, you are getting a fun experience. I want you to remember how much fun you had during it, and this allows me to capture your joy through my lens.

What does success mean to you?
I define success when others are happy. Apart of my mission is to not only take photos but to make others happy in the process.
