Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Almodovar.
Nancy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Three years ago, I started my company from my kitchen table with my kids running around me. I had only one other realtor by side, who happened to be a very good friend of mine. I saw a gap in the marketplace for a luxury real estate company, but I also wanted a firm that would serve as a one-stop shop for foreign nationals, too. What started as a vague ambition turned into something that I immediately knew was special.
People told me I was crazy and that I had no idea what I was in for. But with the support of my husband and a solid network of friends and family, I had the strength to carry out my dreams.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been always been a smooth journey, one of my favorite sayings happens to be, “When there’s a will, there’s a way,” and I sure do have a lot of will! I’ve never let the obstacles hinder me from meeting my goals, but struggles do sometimes exist. One of the common ones is making sure that my team shares my vision. My company is founded on the principles of prioritizing world-class customer service always. No matter what. When it comes to both new and veteran agents, it’s my own personal challenge to make sure they are on board with that.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Nan and Company Properties and Christie’s International Real Estate – what should we know?
Nan and Company Properties has become the industry leader in servicing the luxury market as well as foreign national clientele. Our technology-driven real estate company provides excellent customer service to clients buying, selling or leasing luxury properties while presenting sales associates with the support and technology to succeed. I am always proud to say that we have been categorized as one of the “Best Places to Work” for two years in a row by The Houston Business Journal — and hoping for a three peat! By merging technology with traditional customer service values, our consistently sells homes before they make it to market, including properties in the luxury property niche.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My determination has been the key to succeeding in every goal I’ve set my mind to. I’ve never taken “no” for an answer. I believe that there’s always a solution, and there’s always an answer; you just have to roll your sleeves up, get to work, and stay focused.
