Meet Nancy King of King of Fame Entertainment Group in Deep Ellum and Downtown Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy King.

Nancy J. King has been very successful in the entertainment industry for the last 30 years. Over the years, she’s held positions such as an on-air radio personality; club Dee-Jay, A&R representative, artist manager and booking agent. She’s currently the Founder and Managing Director of King of Fame Entertainment Group based out of Dallas, Texas. Her company has seen extreme growth since its beginning in the year 2000. The company started out just concentrating only on promoting, booking local musicians in the Dallas / Fort Worth area but has expanded in many directions nationwide since then. The company has slowly and steadily grown into a multifaceted entertainment company that now includes working closely with TV / Film projects to coincide with the already established music entertainment promoting, booking and marketing efforts.

Some past experiences in the entertainment industry came during her time working as the Public Relations Director and on-screen News Commentator on “The HumpDay Show” on the ION Television Network. Another position that has enhanced Nancy’s networking circle and experience was her work as a Sales Account Executive for the Ranch Radio Network. This network owns several radio stations throughout Texas and Oklahoma. Some major functions of her work as an Account Executive were comprised of securing and maintaining new clients for on-air radio advertising as well as creating and developing new innovative scripts and ideas for different commercials and promotional on-air spots.

Early on in Nancy’s entertainment industry career, she was contracted by a company called Tightlist Marketing / Yo! Records out of Dallas, Texas. This company was a subsidiary of Atlantic Records out of New York and while on assignment for this company, Nancy worked as a worldwide music talent researcher who was in charge of scouting new musical talent to present to the Atlantic Record’s label. At this point in Nancy’s young career, she realized that she had an innate and gifted talent to sift through all the “mediocre” musical talent and find true, marketable talent.

Her very first entertainment job was as an on-air-personality at KTXT 88.1 FM RADIO, the college radio station at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Besides being an on-air-talent, she also worked several years as a live DJ at several major dance clubs in both Lubbock and Dallas which only enhanced her own musical abilities and outgoing personality. Her humble beginnings as an on-air-personality have since then transpired into a wonderful and fulfilling, life-long entertainment industry career which continues to grow and expand to this day.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road to success because “life” seemed to always get in the way. There were economic ups and downs which affected the live entertainment industry as well as a few personal issues that I had to deal with as the company expanded. The best part is that these ups and downs have helped me grow as an individual and a business owner. “Without challenge, a person has a difficult time rising above and excelling on a personal level as well as the inevitable issues that go hand in hand with business growth. So yes, I appreciate all the challenges since they build a person’s character and outlook on life!”

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started my own business while I was still in my 20’s so I could’ve avoided some huge mistakes that I made as a young adult but on the same note, I wouldn’t have had the maturity to handle my own business at such a young age. Besides, I wouldn’t trade being an “on-air personality” or “club deejay” when I was in my 20’s for anything since it was extremely fulfilling at the time! Besides, these early experiences really helped me learn to deal with people from all walks of life on a personal level.

Our company president attended Stars & Guitars in Colleyville recently and wants to have the same kind of event for our employees. They had John Michael Montgomery and he wants to have a similar caliber of country star. Can you help? Date is 10/05 or possibly 10/26. Any suggestions?
