Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Davis.
Nate, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Nate Davis (Recently cast as Joseph Asagai in Theatre Arlington’s 2020 production of A Rasin in The Sun) is an advocate for the arts. Growing up, his excitement came from music and doing Eddie Murphy and Elvis Presley’s impressions. This past year Nate quit his job in order to fully focus on actualizing his entertainment career goals. You probably have seen him on Helzberg Diamonds promotional ads, or national commercials for Zaxby’s, and many other companies. Acting is his passion and one thing he learned in life is discovery is not only for the actor playing the role, it’s for the human that’s looking for their purpose. Once you find your purpose, success will find you. He will be graduating this year with a bachelor’s in Entertainment Businesses. His ultimate goal is to present ideas of understanding and love through entertainment.
Has it been a smooth road?
The toughest thing to overcome was acting on the idea of making my dream my main priority and not a side hustle. After divorce and quitting my well paying job, I realized I had nothing to lose and this was the perfect opportunity for me to do what everyone everywhere says and follow my dream.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m an actor, musician (drums, piano, violin), singer, and an Entertainment Businessman. I focus on Theatre and Commercial acting. Theatre because I personally believe it is the most fulfilling acting medium and Commercial because it pays well and… there are things called expenses. You could look me up under Nate Davis Theatre Reviews to find some of my most notable work. In the past two years, you probably saw me on some National commercials for Zaxby’s or Pizza Hut or this year in promo ads for Helzberg Diamonds!
Other services I provide are more freelance business-related like drafting and completing business plans and executive summaries for solo artists, or developing marketing and advertising budgets. I even do digital marketing like web development, logo design, and marketing campaigns as well. I’m just getting started but the thing I’m most proud of is finally surrounding my life with the things that matter most to me. The thing that sets me apart from other theatre actors is my imagination. I bring nuances to the characterization in my roles that are always noticed by my audiences and critics. A little snippet of a recent review of A Rasin in The Sun by John Garcia’s The Column, “Nate Davis gave this character a wisdom of life no one else has.”
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love our city! People don’t give the DFW area enough credit. We have ample opportunity for public entertainment and some historic and cultural landmarks and establishments that are even mentioned in educational textbooks. The only thing I like least about our city is our art scene. I wish it were bigger and stronger. One of my goals is to own my own multi-medium production studio (though I love Tyler Perry, this was my goal before his studio was established) and you can rest assured that it will be born here in Dallas.
