Meet Nick Pacione

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Pacione.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nick. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started as a would-be filmmaker with a film degree from UT, living in Hollywood, working for Warner Bros. I didn’t enjoy the climb as much as I thought I would, and thought maybe I could come back home to Texas and make films on my own terms. I ended up falling in love with stills photography in the process and did it as often as I could. I felt that if I could create a perfect photograph, it would be the first step toward creating a perfect film. I became a professional photographer and I’ve been obsessively creating with cameras ever since.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, no. The road has morphed and splintered and deviated dozens of times but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My first job as a professional photographer was for a large jewelry company where I was in charge of photographing over 100 pieces in a day, often several times a week. I did it so that I would become a better photographer faster than the average person or than I would on my own without that kind of workload. I had to clip each individual piece out and place it on a different background in Photoshop at a pace most would find impossible. But I owe my career thereafter to that tedious, hardcore job that I hated at the time. The road has to be tough. It makes you better.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I specialize mainly in fine art landscapes and automotive Photography, but I also spend a lot of my time photographing products in the studio at Image Alive Studios. I’m a studio guy by day and a nature guy anytime I’m not doing that. I think I’m most proud of some of the work I’ve done for states like Montana and Colorado. And a lot of my fine art which has had some success. I think what sets me apart, if anything, is just a certain visual style. It’s some sort of blend of the past and the future dipped in another dimension. I hope.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Aiden Franklin at Image Alive Studios where I’m the lead photographer has been a huge key to my development along the way. It’s been awesome knowing and shooting with fellow DFW photographers like Joseph Dalcour and my cousin Tom Christensen, who introduced me to off-road and knows everyone with a supercar within a 100-mile radius of the metroplex.
