Nicole, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I always knew that I wanted to work with children. Passionate and curious about life, I would dream of the day I’d have my own class, full of students to teach instead of dolls, friends and little brothers. In all I did, I longed to make an impact on the lives of others, especially children. After graduating college, the classroom was the ideal place to start, and through Teach for America, I quickly became a teacher. I was overly excited to have 20+ bright, tiny humans I could mold and enrich. From reading to respect, nothing brought more joy than to see my kids learning, growing, and exploring the world with the same passion and curiosity I tried to bestow upon them daily. Unfortunately that was not the case for all and it was the kiddos struggling that kept me up at night. Each year there were a few that never seemed to progress as much as I knew they could. No matter what I tried, what Mom and Dad tried, what the counselor and Principal tried, nothing seemed to click. Time and again, things showed to be more challenging than they needed to be. These precious kids didn’t have the foundation that they needed to be truly successful in my classroom – the stamina to sit still and focus, the confidence to talk with others and make friends, and the ability to excel academically. It was through these obstacles that I discovered Brain Balance and was blown away! Brain Balance gets to the root cause of the majority of today’s learning, behavioral and social issues. Brain Balance is providing children with the foundation and tools they need to reach their fullest potential!

Brain Balance is an after-school, holistic program that combines physical and sensory motor exercises with cognitive training and healthy nutrition, placing both hemispheres of the brain back in sync.
When the left side and the right side of the brain are not in sync, this can lead for many different types of behavioral, social and academic issues to arise. In a properly functioning brain, both hemispheres communicate equally and at lightning speed, millions of times per minute. In a poorly functioning brain, the left and right sides of the brain pass on partial information, causing miscommunication. This is referred to as a functional disconnection – the root cause of many learning (small details and big picture within text, handwriting, taking notes, etc.), behavior (lack of focus, emotional control, defiance, etc.) and social problems (low self-confidence, eye contact, trouble making friends, etc.). Brain Balance puts the left and right side of the brain back in sync!! Therefore eliminating the day to day symptoms which at times can be debilitating.
The first step is coming in for a comprehensive assessment. This provides our parents an in depth analysis of how their child is perceiving information through their senses, and then process that information in order to learn. Based upon the strengths and weaknesses found in the assessment, we are then able to set up a program especially for the unique needs we’re looking to develop.
