Meet Nicole Fancher

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Fancher.

Nicole, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started in performing arts pretty early, doing a dance around four years old, followed by theater and singing. I remember my first part was as a “baker” in second grade haha. I wanted to be a ballerina for a little while but quickly discovered it probably wouldn’t work out since I couldn’t touch my toes. I continued music and theater throughout college, majoring in Vocal Performance (mostly singing opera). After college, I tried on-camera acting and it stuck, and I’ve been doing that for the past ten years.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not, particularly the last five years (cue “Still Hurting” haha). I had a series of concussions and neck injuries, causing pretty bad pain and neurological dysfunction. I’m mostly healed now, but it’s been a long road of physical therapy and gradually pushing the boundaries of what I can do physically and cognitively. At the very beginning I couldn’t walk at times, was in bed for days due to migraines, and had to sleep at least 13-14 hours a night to get through the day. Acting jobs have pushed me to get better through neuroplasticity (basically the ability for the brain to heal itself from injury) from memorizing scripts, especially at the last minute. One of the first gigs I had in Dallas, I had to memorize a script in Spanish at the last minute, and that was a challenge. Sometimes I compare myself to other actors because I’m still healing and I can’t always do as much as others, but I’m thankful I’ve been able to do what I have.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I do on-camera acting and print. I’d say I’m known for vulnerable yet strong dramatic characters, quirky and awkward comedic characters, and can sell health and fashion brands.
