Meet Nicole Lynn of Paws and Homes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Lynn.

Nicole, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I created Paws and Homes after witnessing the after-boarding trauma of a good friend’s fur baby. While she was at the boarding facility she went on a hunger strike, upon returning home it took a week before she was back to her normal self. The trauma of being left alone at night in a cage and the non-stop barking of the other dogs was too much for her. She was used to snuggling on the sofa watching TV, having her food made that special way, and finding her perfect spot in the bed at night. The shock of not having her Daddy and then being in a strange space was too much.

At Paws and Homes, we are the solution for the noisy dog kennels. We provide two great options to best fit your fur babies’ needs. We can either stay overnight in your home or your fur baby can come to Auntie Nicole’s. She will make your pet feel quite at home and duplicate the normal routine. Not traveling overnight but have super long work days?? Paws and Homes can help with that as well through our check-in service.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been an interesting road. I feel getting the word out and explaining what you do as always been interesting. For some people, it’s a brand new concept that I would allow dogs into my home. I feel it’s a great solution to boarding in a large facility and for those who don’t want someone in their home.

Every once in a while you will have someone that doesn’t give full disclosure about the behavior of their animal, I’d say in the past four years there’s only a handful of that.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Paws and Homes – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I primarily specialize in watching doggies in my home. I also check on cats in their homes {I don’t bring them into my home}, house checking services when people travel, as well as some house sitting. My nickname amongst my clients is Auntie Nicole, and recently one of my clients compared me to a bed and breakfast for their dog. I pride myself on providing a comfortable, relaxed home for my client’s furbabies. I send pictures daily and sometimes videos. I treat their animals as if they were my own.

I also am pretty flexible with my scheduling, I have people drop off as early as 5 AM and pick up as late as 10 PM with no extra charge, I also don’t charge extra for dispensing medicine. My business travelers who tend to have last minute trips pop up enjoy that fact that I will pick up and drop off for them.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
For the future, I would like to continue building my “family” of repeat clients. I would also like to raise awareness for my home services that can help people who don’t have animals. If someone is traveling and they would like their home checked on or they can’t get away from work and need someone to sit at their home and wait for a repairman. I know those are needed services as well that I don’t feel a lot of people know are available.

Pricing:

  • For pet sitting in my home range from $35 to $55, first animal
  • House sitting overnight is $65 per night
  • Check in services range $15 to $17 a visit
