Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Allen.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am the owner of GlamHERGalore. I’m 25, born and raised in Chicago. Full time I work as Instructional Assistant as well as coaching cheerleading for the last three years. I attended Columbia College Chicago with a bachelors in Theater (Acting) never in a million years did I think I would be in the field of Beauty. I am a certified beauty industry professional who founded GlamHERGalore in 2018 with one mind: To make clients feel beautiful about themselves.
I believe that everybody deserves to feel great about the way they look, and the variety of services is suitable for every need I decided to start lashing because there was a time where I didn’t feel beautiful about myself due to suffering badly from acne. I decided to try lashes and I instantly felt better about myself. Lashing encouraged me to take care of my skin and focus more on self-love. The time I am lashing is very therapeutic, and it’s pleasing to make others feel beautiful. Having my first child made me realize how important self-care really is. My son motivates me to do more for myself because he needs me at my best.
My glam journey has been empowering some days I would be proud and some days I would cry out of frustration, but ITS BEAUTY IN THE STRUGGLE. I’m extremely happy with the process and I was motivated to do more. I am currently trained in nail care and maintenance which is the most challenging so far. These services are available as well as eyebrow care. I am pushing to add more services to GlamHERGalore. As my company grows, I am personally growing as well. I am pleased to work on my craft while building new client relationships. No matter what state my appearance is in I will always have a passion for working on the beauty inside and out.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, its definitely been times where I just wanted to give up, I’ve sat and cried some nights out of frustration but I had to remind myself that I had things to do not only for me but for my son. One of my biggest challenges were balancing my time with being a mom, working at the school, coaching cheerleading and running a business but I know that things will eventually pay off.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about GlamHERGalore – what should we know?
I do BEAUTY lash tech, eyebrow tech and I’m currently trying to figure out nails. I specialize in lashes as of right now. I do CLASSIC and VOLUME lashes. I’m mostly known for my CLASSIC sets. The goal is to specialize in all three but I’m working on being patient doing the process and not feeling like I have to rush so I’m taking my time with everything. What sets me apart is I’m a triple treat I do lashes, nails and eyebrows people in my city do one or the other sometimes two out of the three but never ALL three.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Definitely, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my clients, cheering me on and trusting me through the process. My mom, stepdad, brother, god sister and my boyfriend has played the biggest role in my success because it LITERALLY takes a village to raise a child. They have all helped me tremendously with keeping my son while I tend to clients. My mom even gave me a room in her house that I’m able to do business in so I’m made grateful for it all.
