Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Boardman.
Rebecca has been passionate about Arabian horses since 1985, when she got her first purebred, a little blood-red colt that would change, and save, her life.
A survivor of complex trauma that stemmed from a lifetime of hardships, Rebecca began to see the relationship between her daily survival and her interactions with her horses, and now applies them in an active program called HorseSight™️.
Combining aspects of psychology, holistic healing, natural interactions with horses, and empathetic intuition, this program goes to the very heart of emotional healing.
Rebecca interacts with clients and her herd of over 30 Arabians, many of which are rescues who have survived abuse, neglect, and horrific trauma. The horses are powerful therapists, connecting to the clients on a deeper level and in the pure language of body and energy. Often, more progress can be made in a single day than in months of traditional talk therapy.
HorseSight™️ works with Arabian Rescue Therapy, a non-profit Rebecca founded in 2016, with the purpose of helping humans with horses who have also experienced hardships. The goal is a continuous circle of humans <>helping <> horses.
ART serves families, veterans, community service facilities, individuals, companies, couples, and specializes in the worst of the worst as far as trauma and PTSD go. Our facility is rustic, homemade with every reclaimed wooden board and recycled materials. The barn, fence, horses and people reflect that perfection is not the goal- rather it is in the use of what you have to make things work – and that can be remade again and again.
We welcome visitors and encourage groups and families. ART is small and needs funding to provide our services to those who need it the most, and who cannot pay at all.
Has it been a smooth road?
Rebecca has always done this from the passion in her heart, not from outside funding. For over 38 years, she and her family have found ways to make the farm work, sometimes working three jobs while raising her children to make ends meet.
She has faced tremendous challenges physically and mentally, undergoing twenty surgeries on her knees along with a host of mental illnesses that have nearly ended her life on multiple occasions- but the strong love of family and horses have always brought her back.
Now that the non-profit is in its third year, and every person who has visited has supported us, we hope the future will be bright and productive.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Arabian Rescue Therapy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are tiny. A board of four, And we need more board members.
We do not wish to become a multi-million dollar conglomerate. Rather we wish to remain small and intimate with our clients. By remaining small, we keep our mission in focus. Continuing to Help save horses from slaughter, rehabilitating them and using them for mental health therapy with humans, and adopting them out to safe and loving homes. Then we repeat the cycle. Our ultimate goal is to create other forms such as ours where the circle of love and healing can continue.
We are most proud of the fact that we own our own facility, we created and made it ourselves within our own expense and our own budget, and we are just average middle-class Americans. We have proven that everyone can make a difference.
What sets us apart is almost everything. From our facility, which is humble and does not strive for perfection, to our horses, which are exclusively Arabian. Our method of therapy is also unique, using HorseSight™️, which is similar but not the same as other equine-assisted psychotherapy programs.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the cultural district and the incredible museums and art galleries. The music scene is awesome.

Thank you for featuring Rebecca Boardman and her art, her mission and her horses. She does a remarkable job of helping horses and humans in need. Arabian horses are amazing for the way they form deep bonds with the people in their lives and for the way they can touch a human heart that is hurting.
