Capturing the Full Story: Maggie & Hank Banaei Redefine Wedding Storytelling

For Maggie and Hank Banaei, the evolution from photography into full photo and video coverage came from a simple realization: one medium alone couldn’t fully capture the emotion of a wedding day. By working in seamless harmony as a husband-and-wife team, they create a calm, unified experience that allows couples to stay present while every moment—seen and heard—is thoughtfully preserved. Today, their approach goes beyond documentation, offering couples a complete, immersive way to relive not just how their day looked, but how it truly felt.

Maggie, you and Hank began as a photography-only business and later expanded into full photo and video coverage — what was the moment you realized weddings truly need both, working in harmony?
For us, it wasn’t one dramatic moment, it was many small ones. It was watching a bride tear up during her vows and realizing that while the photograph captured the falling tear, it couldn’t capture the way her voice cracked. It was hearing a father’s speech and knowing that the emotion in his voice was just as powerful as the expression on his face.

Photography freezes time. Videography lets you relive it.

We began to feel that if we were only offering one, we were giving our couples part of their story, not the whole heartbeat of it. That realization stayed with us. And because we care so deeply about preserving memories, we knew we wanted to offer both in a way that felt unified and intentional.

You describe your husband-and-wife dynamic as moving “like a perfectly timed orchestra” on a wedding day. How does that level of synchronization translate into a calmer, more seamless experience for your couples?
Marriage naturally changes the way we work. Hank and I understand each other beyond words. On a wedding day, it’s often just a glance or a small movement; we instinctively know where the other will be and what the moment needs. That connection removes any sense of chaos or overlap, instead creates a quiet rhythm throughout the day.

One of the most meaningful moments for us was hearing from a mother of the groom, who described watching us work as “a choreographed dance… everywhere capturing every angle, yet you never seemed to notice them.” That meant so much to us, because that’s exactly how we want our couples and their families to feel.

Present, but never overwhelmed. Supported, but never directed too much. When a couple doesn’t feel pulled in different directions or interrupted by multiple teams, they can truly relax into their day. Everything flows more naturally, and they’re able to stay present with the people they love.

For us, that synchronization isn’t just about efficiency; it’s about protecting the feeling of the day.

From your perspective, what changes the most for couples and planners when photography and videography come from one cohesive team instead of two separate companies?
The biggest shift is peace of mind. Weddings involve many moving parts. When couples hire separate teams, they sometimes don’t realize how much coordination is required behind the scenes. Different communication styles, creative visions, and timing preferences can unintentionally create stress.

When we handle both, everything feels lighter. Planners appreciate having one point of contact. Couples feel comfort knowing we’ve already aligned every detail before the wedding day even begins. There’s no competition for moments only collaboration. It transforms the day from “managing vendors” into simply experiencing the celebration.

Expanding into videography came with new challenges, from equipment to workflow. What were some of the biggest lessons you learned during that growth phase?
The growth challenged us in the best way. We had to invest in new equipment, learn audio deeply, refine editing techniques, and completely redesign our workflow. There were long nights of learning, practicing, and adjusting. But the biggest lesson was responsibility.

When you offer both photography and videography, you are entrusted with every memory, not just how it looks, but how it sounds and feels. That responsibility pushed us to become more organized, more prepared, and more intentional. It strengthened our partnership too. We had to communicate more clearly, support each other more deeply, and trust each other fully.

Looking at where your brand is today, how has offering both photography and videography strengthened your mission and elevated the experience you’re able to deliver in the wedding industry?
Offering both has made our work feel complete. Our mission has always been rooted in care: serving couples in a way that feels calm, genuine, and elevated. By bringing photography and videography under one vision, we can protect the emotional atmosphere of the day. We’re not just documenting events. We’re preserving legacy. Years from now, when our couples sit together and watch their film or flip through their album, we want them to feel transported—to hear the laughter, see the glances, and remember not just how it looked, but how it felt.

That’s why we do this!

And being able to do it side by side, as husband and wife, makes it even more meaningful.
