Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Reid.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rebecca. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always loved light, colors, and beauty in this world. I also value learning about different types of people, cultures, communities and connecting with people and hearing their stories. I’ve worked in the corporate world, the Arts, and as a business coach for several years and began seeing how important it was for people to feel comfortable and confident in their own skin and that they had a story to share with this world. In studying personal communication and style, I knew that the colors we wear were important but I didn’t know how important…I never knew that the colors we wear can cause subconscious trust or distrust through their optical illusions on our skin and can create harmony or disharmony for one’s appearance. We all have our best versions of colors but the majority of people don’t know what theirs are and can’t be told that by just looking at the color of their hair, skin, eyes.
Personally, when I first learned about Personal Color Analysis, color psychology, and how colors affect us, I was in awe and knew this was something I needed to pursue. I thought about how valuable it would have been to have known my best versions of colors when: I auditioned for that play and wanted that starring role, interviewed for that job years ago, gave a persuasive presentation in front of others, when I decorated my home for the first time, or even for planning my wedding.
As I researched, I saw that there was a need for in-depth professional color analysis in the marketplace and that this was valuable information for people to learn about themselves and apply to their wardrobe, careers, home, and life! Knowing your best colors can help you to look healthier and more confident, save you money and time when shopping, simplify your wardrobe, have a positive influence on those around you, and even a stronger presence in the work world. There are so many benefits. So… stepping out in faith, I became a Certified Personal Color Analyst through the esteemed True Colour International and my personal business, Colorpolitan, was born!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been an exciting journey, however, as many of us know, starting a business from scratch is never an easy endeavor! My certification took 6+ months of studying and having practice clients all while I had recently had a baby (my fourth son) and was working my coaching business from home. I wanted my personal heart and vision to be all over this business so I designed everything from the structure and the services offered, to spending hours designing and putting together my own website. I probably should have delegated that one, but I love the way it turned out! It’s all been a learning process but now I know what I can do and should delegate. There is joy in the journey!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Colorpolitan – what should we know?
Colorpolitan is a personal color analysis and consulting business. As a Certified Personal Color Analyst, I work with all types of people in different fields of work to stay at home moms and students and use a scientific analysis process to help them discover their most harmonious color palettes, live authentically, and own their message.
After a professional personal color analysis, my clients leave Colorpolitan with a gorgeous archival swatchbook of 65+ of their best colors as well as in-depth education and materials about how to apply their color palette to their wardrobe, makeup, accessories, and even home interiors.
Color analysis has been around for many years but what makes Colorpolitan and this form of Personal Color Analysis unique is that I don’t just focus on the surface: hair color, eye color, or skin color to find a client’s best colors but I go much deeper… I use a state of the art 12-tone Sci/ART Personal Color Analysis System based on the science of natural color harmony, accurate interpretation of the Munsell color system (hue, value, and chroma), full- spectrum light theory, human physiology and psychology to discover one’s natural color palette. This scientific color-draping analysis empowers you to discover and apply a wide array of beautiful colors that celebrate you!
I’m proud of the integrity of this analysis system and the personalized approach I take when working with my clients and understanding their needs. My goal is that after having a professional color analysis done with Colorpolitan, my clients feel beautiful and confident in their own skin and are able to apply their new color knowledge to benefit their life! What also makes this business special to my clients and the community is that I get to offer other services besides personal color analysis including: color workshops for businesses or small groups and shopping/style consultations. I am available for presentations and speaking engagements in a formal, informal, or personalized settings. These presentations can be customized to serve specific needs and audiences. I love to blend valuable themes with practical advice and my hope is that others are impacted for the better. I’m excited to have several speaking engagements coming up in the area!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I think when we have a tribe of people believing in our vision and dreams, it makes all of the difference! I’m very grateful for the support that has surrounded me.
My husband, family, and friends deserve a lot of credit for the success of this business. They have believed in me from the start and have been so encouraging through this journey.
I also have the best clients! They have shared about their personal color analysis journeys with others and I’ve received a lot of business through word of mouth and their recommendation. I’m so thankful for that and that others see value in this for themselves.
My trainer, Amelia Butler, from True Colour International was wonderful to work with as well. She has provided great support and I also have a small and beautiful community of TCI certified analysts all over the world. We encourage, share ideas, and stay connected.
