Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin O’Neal.
Robin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Being A native of New Orleans, Louisiana Displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, I was left to figure out the big World of Dallas Fort worth with little to no guidance and that experience equipped me with the keen insight needed to help my family and friends relocate here to Dallas. After Living in Dallas and attending Paul Quinn college for only a year and a half I decided to trade in my future with massive student loan debt for a license in Real Estate. During my freshman year in college, I was doing work-study, working part-time at a beauty supply store and braiding hair on the side to support myself and my two little ones at the time. While braiding one of my client’s hair I listened to her boyfriend try to convince her that she should get her real estate license and I was all ears.
Once I received my first income tax check I paid for all of my real estate classes and have been a Texas realtor ever since. The journey was not easy because I assumed real estate was a job and quickly found out I had started a business with no money or mentorship to make it work. I finally found the right mentor almost seven years after getting my license and have been helping people achieve the goal of homeownership full time for the last four years. I thank God for leading me to the Brokerage Scottie Smith II & Associates, currently Realty One Group First Choice, Where I now have ownership in the company and am able to mentor new agents and help them jumpstart their careers.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The main struggles I experience was lack of training, lack of connections, and lack of resources to substain my business. I could probably tell you every law written by fair housing but had no clue how to generate leads. Being a young single mom in a new city and trying to fund a commission-based business can be extremely challenging.
The ROSS Real Estate Group – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a professional real estate advisor that helps people understand the process of purchasing, selling, investing and leasing property. I am most proud of our ability to be a trusted source for all of our clients. What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My Proudest moment was when I received my first real estate award. I worked my but off and it felt dang good to finally break into the top producer status. Even my clients were excited. It was like we had all won.
