Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodney Jackson.
An athlete first, Rodney ‘treetopdallas’ Jackson always thought his life would forever be involved in sports. Although his teachers always praised his writing talents, he never a life in entertainment was never questioned until his junior year of college after experimenting with donated recording software.
The reactions fueled an unknown fire lurking within which led to more practice and development evolving the gifted writer into a rising fixture on the underground hip hop scene in Dallas. With growth, TreeTop has become not only an artist but a host of The Pipeline Radio, a popular local online podcast type show via dfwiradio.com, a film writer/director, business owner of Distinguished Services of DFW, activist, and leader of his community.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been hard but invaluable as he’s dealt with doubt from the lack of support, budget woes, balancing of time and priorities all the while trying to stay relevant in a market that changes often.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with TreeTopDallas – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Musically Rodney ‘treetopdallas’ Jackson is a versatile hip hop artist. Drawing comparisons to J Cole, B.O.B. and others he prides himself on painting vivid pictures for his audience. A songwriter that enjoys melodies and cadences, TreeTop loves to write catch hooks that embed themselves into the listeners head. As a storyteller, his interest in films began to manifest into scripts which has expanded into his company Pipeline Films, a branch off of The Pipeline Group venture. What sets TreeTop apart from others is his will to defy odds. He doesn’t take no for answer and will work around obstacles until he succeeds.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the talent and desire the city has. There is so much potential its a shame we aren’t renowned for our capabilities. I’m not a fan of the gentrification that is currently underway. Change is good but only if it benefits us all.
