Today we’d like to introduce you to Roger Morgan.
Roger, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been an entrepreneur from a young age… and I’ve always loved pets. Nearly 15 years ago, my interest in business merged with my interest in pets when I became CEO of a pet products company based in Dallas. Five years ago, I started my own pet products company focused on changing the lives of pets (and people) through amazing, high-quality dog and cat nutrition products.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a roller coaster of ups and downs, sometimes on the same day. We’ve worked hard and been blessed to have lots go right, but of course, there are challenges along the way. One big challenge had to do with our website and back-office systems. We’ve addressed it now, but it was a tough struggle for about a year. Another interesting change we’ve made is our product and sales strategy. When we started, our lead product was our pet food; however, over time, we’ve shifted our strategic focus away from the pet food to our flagship product line–pet food seasonings! You don’t like to eat the same thing every day, and neither does your pet.
PawTree – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Some people mistakenly think that what “we do” at PawTree is sell dog and cat nutrition products. While it’s true that we do offer amazing pet nutrition products for sale, that’s not what “we do” or what inspires us and motivates us. What “we do” is make such a profound difference in the lives of pets and people that they can’t imagine going back to the old way. What “we do” is bring more happiness into people’s lives. It’s a wonderful mission and it gets me excited every day when I wake up to go out and help more pets and more people.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Truly making a difference in the lives of pets and people by helping them find more happiness in their lives.
