I’ve always imagined myself being someone who uplifts other people, which may be the reason why I enjoy making people feel beautiful. I am the type of person who makes friends with strangers wherever I go because I genuinely enjoy forming friendships. Before creating a business, I did makeup for brides, groups, and I even taught makeup classes around DFW. I have created Rowe Beauty Cosmetics with my Rowe Beauties in mind. “Rowe Beauties” is what I refer to my supporters. They are the girls I have met along my journey of doing makeup, support my brand, and they have become apart of our Facebook group: Rowe’s Beauty Room.
This group is what we refer to as a safe haven, girls who like makeup can post their looks in a no judgement zone and interact with others. Rowe Beauties are females I have grew friendships with while uplifting and hyping each other up, plus they know I am here whenever they may need me. It feels good to have genuine connections with my Rowe Beauties that has grown over the years. After I began doing makeup, I noticed firsthand how hard women are on themselves and it made me sad since I believe our imperfections make us unique. This is what drove me to create Rowe Beauty Cosmetics and make a difference with how people feel about their beauty. My products will be geared towards uplifting people who may experience depression, anxiety and overall confidence. The new items will be coming summer 2020 and I’m so excited for everyone to enjoy them!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The overall journey has been a great experience. I’m thankful to have so much support from the community. My Rowe Beauties support me even when I don’t expect to receive any support. There have been various struggles from teaching myself how to run a small business to stay motivated. It all comes down to how bad I want to make a difference within the makeup community. I believe as long as I stay eager and true to myself, everyone who comes across Rowe Beauty Cosmetics will be inspired. All I want to give is positive vibes!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Rowe Beauty Cosmetics – what should we know?
I am a woman who wears many hats. I am a mother, wife, college graduate, business owner, working for the government and I teach children online in China. I am always busy, so prioritizing my business is a task that I enjoy to do! Rowe Beauty Cosmetics is where I feel at home. I have created my own logo, website, and labels for my items. I am known for having a lot of energy and helping others. I am a mother who edits my son’s YouTube channel, which is “Blake and Ben Show.” My five-year-old, Blake, has wanted to be a YouTuber since he was three, so I am making it a priority this year to help him and his brother grow a channel where they play and teach other kids. I allow them to pick their own ideas and I edit them.
I do my own YouTube as well, which is Rowe Deville, where I do fashion, beauty, and lifestyle videos. I feel like we are only getting started. I have always worked in customer service jobs while growing up, so I am most proud of Rowe Beauty Cosmetics’ customer service skills. I make sure I stay personable with my Rowe Beauties. This is what makes my brand stand out. Rowe Beauty Cosmetics started on 1/13/2019 and I sold out on 1/20/2019! This was an amazing feeling. I’m excited to keep going and growing in all aspects!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband has been a huge support system. He had told me years before that he imagined me working at a makeup store inside of the mall. He would randomly tell me this. Back in 2018, I got hired on the spot while visiting a very popular makeup store. While working there, I would win items and get congratulated for how many people I’d help, high sales and signing up customers for credit cards. I believe it was destiny for me to eventually start my own business, Rowe Beauty Cosmetics. I finally found my niche!
My mother has been an amazing supporter. She sells my lashes to her coworkers at a nursing facility. I have visited and met many women who have been supporting me. Meeting people who have purchased items from your company is a great feeling that can never be replaced! My mom and husband both have offered me loans to aid ideas, but I have declined them. I want my brand to be built solely on my own money. Maybe in the future, I’ll be open to investors, but in the beginning, it has been important for me to say, “I DID THIS!” It’s a confidence booster for me to get it going by myself!
Grandma and Grandpa you have instilled many virtues inside of me when I was a young girl. I appreciate you guys speaking the word of God onto me. I know I was ornery, but I definitely have grown from you guy’s loyalty. Grams, you’re my heart!! Grandpa you said “..all the places I will go” — thanks for believing in me! I love you guys and I can’t wait to make y’all proud.
Another support that I would like to mention is my brother Mannie, who doesn’t miss a post or video. That makes me smile because this is a business that is geared towards women. He has told me I’m doing great. Having a family who encourages and supports you while you are starting something new feels great!
I’m thankful for my Rowe Beauties supporting me by communicating with me, liking posts, sharing posts and purchasing my products! I love them more than they know!! Shoutout to you Beauties because without you, I may not have the motivation to keep going! This is a dream that I want to last forever.
