Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Rangel.
Ryan, before we jump into specific questions about your art, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My work evolved from traditional mediums such as acrylic and watercolor on canvas to digital media around the age of 15. During my high school years, I developed an interest in photo manipulation and editing of my drawings. After high school, I decided to pursue a career in Graphic Design. During college, I created designs for many local small businesses in and around DFW. I graduated from The Art Institute Of Fort Worth with a BFA in graphic design in 2014.
After college, I went on to work in different levels of production, from designing and large scale printing, to sublimation printing, to Screen printing. Currently, I am working on growing my graphic design and custom apparel business. It’s helped my mind and hands stay busy during these unpredictable times.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve had my ups and downs in this business, of course. However, there hasn’t been an obstacle I couldn’t overcome.
We’d love to hear more about your art.
The goal of my business is to help people create beautiful branding and design they can be proud of. My specialty is in illustration, graphic design and brand identity design. Creating logos, store signs, and t-shirt designs are just a few things I love to create. I’d like to think I’m known for as just being an artist. I’m most proud of my customer service. I want to make sure my clients receive something they’ll love with efficiency and style.
Work ethic and communication is what I believe sets me apart from most graphic design services. I feel it’s important to have an understanding of your client’s business or message and create it from there. I like to take in their wants and needs and “sculpt” unique images out of that information.
What were you like growing up?
A native Texan raised in East Fort Worth, art has always been an integral part of who I am. I was a shy and timid kid. Art allowed me to express myself and break down the barriers of my social awkwardness. And with a huge support system from my family and friends, my artistic abilities were always nurtured. As a kid, I would basically draw on any blank surface I saw (sorry about your walls mama lol). I was a quiet child and preferred to be kind to others. I still do.
