Meet Sabrina Moormann of MoormannPhotography and White Lavender Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Moormann.

Sabrina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was always very creative when I was growing up and I loved painting and photography. When I was about 16 years old, I purchased my first camera. I loved nature photography and developed film in my own darkroom.

In 2008, my husband and I moved from Germany to Texas and my first daughter was born. That is when I became more interested in babies and children’s photography. I took many classes about posing and lighting and other subjects to extend my skills. Soon, I fell in love with wedding photography. This is a great way to combine my love of nature, architectural photography and focus on details with making memories and creating beautiful artwork for my clients. I love it!

After my second daughter was born, I started to get even more training in newborn and children’s photography. I joined several workshops and offered sessions to friends to practice my skills. I learned many new things, like editing images in Lightroom and Photoshop and build my own website. My clients loved the timeless quality portraits I created for them and recommended me to their friends and family.

Four years I ago my passion became my business and Moormann Photography was born. Three years ago, we moved to Flower Mound, TX and I opened my home-based studio. That is when I started specializing in Newborn Photography and in my “storybook photo sessions”.

My studio is arranged comfortably, has the perfect lighting conditions and is equipped with beautiful props and outfits. Here I can unfold my creativity, because I make most of my props, newborn outfits and storybook costumes by myself.

Because there are so many photographers in this area, I always try to offer something different and be one of the best photographers my clients can get. My clients receive beautiful artwork they will cherish and treasure forever, images that bring back memories and make them smile. However, not just the result is very important to me, also the experience during my sessions. My storybook session for example is a moment; a child will remember and talk about forever. Girls and boys come into my studio to be like their favorite fairy tale character. They can choose to get their hair and make-up done; and then dress up like mermaids, fairies, or angels to play with my beautiful props while I take their unique portraits. My newest addition to the storybook sessions are mommy-and-me session. Moms and kiddos love that!

During my newborn sessions, safety is my priority. I do many compositions to keep the posing of the newborn safe. My clients love the relaxed atmosphere and the patience of me posing their newborn. Many of my clients first hired me as their wedding photographer and came back for their newborn sessions and family portraits. That is what makes me happy. It shows their trust in me and how much they adore my work. I love seeing my work on my client’s social media platforms in form of Facebook profile pictures or Linked-In headshots. But most important for me is to see my artwork displayed in their homes on high quality prints or canvas, so my clients can enjoy them today and share them with future generations.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had to learn many new things. Being a mom and managing a business by myself can be challenging sometimes.

Time showed that my business name “Moormann Photography” is not easy to remember and led to misspellings. Therefore, my new business name will be “White Lavender Photography”. It took me several month to find a name that is easy to remember, unique, and most of all that suits my branding.
