Meet Samson Uko of Royal Line Photography in Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samson.

Samson, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always had an artistic eye, but my love for photography started off a few years ago when I bought a canon rebel camera. It changed my outlook on photography because of the ability for me to shoot in raw format. Shooting raw images heightened my creativity and began my journey with photoshop and other programs. I wanted to get better at my craft so I started researching other photographers and their work. I would like to give credit to the amazing youtube content creators who have helped me take my work to the level it is now. Creatives like Anita Sadowska, Jessica Kobeissi, Peter Mckinnon, PHLEARN, Irene Rudnyk. As well as local artists like Obislens, @Shotbymello, @mlaynephotography, @neoaffinity and many more.

Once I realized my passion for photography could also be an avenue for additional income, I invested in a Full Frame DSLR camera. This allowed me to create the content that you all are now recognizing and take my career to the next level.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, it has been relatively smooth. I never expected running a successful business to be easy, so with that in mind, my journey has been great. One common challenge for those entering the photography industry is how expensive it can get. You have to be prepared to invest in your craft. For example, in order to put out the best work, sometimes it requires other equipment, not just a camera. This has definitely forced me to get out of my comfort zone and build more relationships with other photographers and studio owners to collab and rent spaces for photoshoots. Also, obtaining clients can be very difficult, so it always helps to network and build relationships with others at creative meetups.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I specialize in portrait, lifestyle and fashion photography. I’m most proud of a few things, for one the fact that I have a photo style most people are able to recognize as bold and vibrant. Also in a short amount of time have been able to work with modeling agencies, professional sports associations, and various clothing brands in the DFW metroplex.
