Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Kelly.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sarah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up, I saw a lot of old photographs taken by my dad and became very interested as I saw places and people in his pictures. I got my own camera in high school and quickly grew obsessed with it. While I pursued my business degree at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, I found out about our incredible photography program and decided to pursue a second bachelor’s degree in Advertising Photography. I learned so much about the equipment, lighting, color, composition, retouching, and so much more! Now that I’ve graduated, I came to Dallas to work as a business analyst at Southwest Airlines. Outside of my day job, I love working with my clients as a wedding and portrait photographer.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting my own business hasn’t been very easy. Having just moved to Texas, I didn’t have a big network or support system and my job at Southwest takes a lot of time and energy away from my business. It’s been a hard year of late evenings and exhausting weekends, but I have had a lot of support from my boyfriend and my coworkers have been a huge blessing as they encourage me to grow.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sarah Kelly Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a wedding and portrait photographer. My work is heavily influenced by storytelling and I use a lot of color manipulation to portray mood and ambiance. The style of my work is very classic and realistic with an artistic touch.
At the end of the day, my business is a reflection of my passion for photography. When I am working with a client that I have come to know so well, I am overcome with joy knowing I just captured a moment will be cherished for generations. Providing this service to my clients is so incredibly fulfilling – knowing that they can trust me to get everything right. I am so honored that I am invited to share in such important and personal moments in their lives.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the future, I am planning to open a studio and office space for meeting with clients. Right now, I am working out of my home. It works for now, but I am hoping to develop a stronger customer experience as I continue to grow my business.
