Today we’d like to introduce you to Savion Washington.
Savion, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
July 30th, I started a business called SDUB Fitness. SDUB has two meanings the first meaning is my name… S is for Savion, the DUB is slang for W, because that’s what my last name starts with. I also turned it into an acronym.. (S)acrifice (D)esire (U)nstoppable (B)enefit… those four words saved my life, and I know they can help anybody! I travel from park to park in Garland and train people for a low fee, because I love Garland and I want the community to come together. SDUB Fitness is more than a workout, it’s more than fitness, it’s a get away from all the negatives you’re dealing with in life if you’re dealing with any. We have fun, the environment is always high energy, dancing, laughs, and smiles! I am going on three months that I’ve started this amazing journey and it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I contemplated suicide July 26, because I didn’t know my purpose, my gift, or why I existised. I received my masters in May, got married in June, and started SDUB July 30. The suicide attempt scared me and made me realize I was put on this earth to help so many people. I do that everyday now, I have 80-120 clients, I’ve had nearly 1,000 sessions in 90 days, on and off because of rain, and sometimes we even trained in the rain. I started with – $459 in my bank account staying with my mom, but now I and my wife live in a condo in downtown Dallas. I’m at the highest point of my life, and everyday I go up even more. My purpose in life is to help every individual I come in contact with find their purpose!
Has it been a smooth road?
Other than a rec center getting mad at me and calling the police on me because I was training “too early in the am,” there haven’t been any obstacles. The cop came out one morning, he was extremely nice and told me why they had called, I simply smiled, we talked for about 30 minutes, then I was at a new park within the next three days.
So, other than that it has been because I know so many people. I know how to talk to the richest of the rich and the poorest of the poor. I grew up playing sports, and I played in college, so I have family and friends everywhere! No challenges or obstacles thus far. I am extremely blessed, and forever grateful!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with SDUB Fitness – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am a fitness motivator, I am most proud that I am not a personal trainer. What sets me apart is that money is not my motive, I solely only want to help people. I work way more than I sleep, and I am overcommitted to making sure my clients meet all goals they want to!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
When a 43-year-old woman told me I was the reason she got out of bed this morning. She said she always wanted to work out, but always lacked motivation. She told me knowing that I was there waiting for her was the motivation she always needed.
