Today we’d like to introduce you to Shena Jones.
Shena, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was 12 years old, my cousin bought me a mannequin head. I was into watching the Style Network in the 90s. Shortly after, I started teaching myself to braid. At the time my younger sister was two years old, I braided her hair and crocheted hair onto the braids. Once I made it to high school, I was on the track team and began to braid everyone’s hair. My skills became up to par, where I could start charging for my services.
After graduation, I attended pharmacy school. I began to realize this is not my field of expertise and ventured off to hair school. There was a job opportunity at JcPenny at their hair salon. God had better for me to be a sole proprietor so I left. I rented suits in various salons. After three unsuccessful attempts at being an entrepreneur, I never gave up. A business plan for my future was definitely needed. I’ve always loved making people feel great. Giving them confidence, self-worth and a refreshing. In spite of the obstacles, financial lack, I NEVER gave up. Within a year, my business plan was complete. This time around, I reinvented myself, redid my brand, logo and my vision. All those tears shed was worth it. God knew I was destined for greatness. I just had to see it for myself.
Has it been a smooth road?
There was bumps in the road, broken glass, shredded tires, potholes, etc. For me there was a lack of finances for supplies and products. I learned how to budget and plan. Marketing played a major role. Of course, the ones I knew that I’d done good work but no one else knew. Confidence building… Advertising… Presentation. Better I became.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

Why? My desire to be a celebrity stylist knows no limit. I’m fluent in extensions, color, cold fusions, braiding, haircuts, and locs.
