Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherwanna Livingston.
Sherwanna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2016, I was laid off from my corporate job. I was a single mom, five months pregnant, and also had a 3-year-old daughter. After nearly losing everything and dealing with extreme anxiety and depression, I made the decision to take back control of my life. Little by little, I began to pick up the pieces and start fresh. After regaining stability, I felt a very strong spiritual calling to share my story with others. I decided to start a YouTube channel to inspire others to do the same. After a few months, I started to receive a lot of positive feedback from people about my channel. Many were inspired. Many had questions about how I was branding and editing my videos. Others wanted me to help them. I realized that my Youtube channel was not only a way for me to inspire others but also a vehicle for me to use my talents and skills to help others. I had a long background in graphic design and was attending the University of Texas at Arlington majoring in Public Relations. I also had a history of sales and marketing. I used my combined skill set to launch my branding agency, Live Love Your Passion in March of 2018. I created my first signature coaching program, #JumpstartYourBrand, to help new entrepreneurs act on their God-given ideas and create the brand they’ve always wanted. Business picked up rapidly and bigger clients began to reach out to me on Instagram. I added services such as Brand Identity Creation, Logo Design, Web Design, Social Media Marketing, and Content Creation. After ten long years of chipping away at my degree, I also graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Communications. These major accomplishments gave me the confidence I needed to go full speed ahead and never look back.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth journey at all! There are sooo many struggles as an entrepreneur, but the main two struggles I have dealt with are: lack of self-confidence and lack of knowledge. When you decide to go against the grain and present your ideas to the world, people begin to look at you differently. It would get hard to believe that I could make it happen throughout the adversity! I also realized that I didn’t know anything. I committed to continuous self-education so that I wouldn’t make mindless mistakes. Running a business takes a lot of knowledge and understanding about economics, finances, the market, mindset, and more!
