Today we’d like to introduce you to Skylar Champion.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always had an interest in real estate. I grew up in Fort Worth, my mom was a realtor. She was always taking me to meet clients, phone duty, open houses and showings. I went to TCU and studied elementary education and then taught elementary school for 7 years in Plano and Highland Park. After building our first home I was approached to start in real estate. Years later, I have not looked back since. I love working with my clients to buy or sell the perfect home. I work volunteer and am the vice president for the LECPTA, Lakewood Early Childhood PTA, and also a board member for the Lakewood Elementary PTA. In the past few years I co-chaired the Lakewood Home Tour put on by the LECPTA and with the help of other women in the community, we raised over $200,000 for our schools: Lakewood Elementary, Long Middle School and Woodrow Wilson High school. I love giving back to my community and doing all I can to make it better for everyone.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing is ever easy. You have to work hard for everything Hard work, persistence, honesty, and being an excellent communicator are important to me and principles that I have built my business on.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty – what should we know?
I specialize in residential real estate in East Dallas, I live in Lakewood and have for years. I work hard to find my clients in off-market listings, selling quickly and finding the perfect homes for my clients. I pride myself on being a partner with my clients throughout the process. I am there for every step of the way. I live and volunteer in the community.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Persistence, perseverance and hard work.
