Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacie Hernandez.
Stacie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Oklahoma and obtained my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Drawing and Painting from the University of Oklahoma. I then moved to NYC to attend Pratt Art Institute, receiving my Master of Fine Arts degree.
Eventually, I moved to NJ where I opened a Visual Arts school and gallery. I loved New York’s Art and Culture scene, but it never felt like home and the weather was not to be desired.
I then moved to Florida where I opened yet another Arts School and Gallery.
I have just recently moved to Dallas and love every bit of the weather, people, Art and Culture and food! I’m home!
Today I’m totally focused on my life as a Professional Artist.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Struggles…please don’t get me started.
I worked my way through undergrad and graduated school while taking care of two girls. It can be done. Took me longer than my friends but working while going to school, moving extreme distances, while taking care of children is what a lot of women do!
I have worked hard for everything I have achieved, and am grateful to those who have encouraged me along the way.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is enjoying a lifelong pursuit while being able to make a living. Entrepreneurial attitude to create and recreate oneself.
