Meet Douglas Roark of Staff Perm in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Douglas Roark.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
First, I would like to thank Voyage Dallas for giving me this opportunity to speak about Staff Perm today!  I have been in career placement connecting professionals to hiring managers for 24 years.  Before opening Staff Perm, I spent 15 years at one of Dallas’s top staffing agencies. I created and supported talent models and strategic project teams for recruiting and talent acquisition lifecycle management and successfully, lead my team to the “Recruiting Team of the Year” circle!   I also joined DFWTRN as a board member and am currently the President for the DFW Texas Recruiters Network, with a focus on bringing awareness, training and communication to area Recruiters and Talent Acquisition Professionals to be more effective and career seeker focused.

In 2013, I formed Staff Perm as I felt there was more I could offer to the recruitment process while helping organizations increase the level of talent in their departments. I saw a void in the placement business to use my experience and training to help create a stronger brand to connect the talent in the industry to companies that wanted to stay competitive with their competition.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Since Staff Perm was a new business, our biggest challenge was branding our mission, vision, and values to top companies in Dallas. This was done by the age-old technique of volunteering and networking which led to our success in bringing in our first 3 clients, a Healthcare Hospital System, a Cisco Gold Partner and a multi-billion-dollar Financial Services Company.

In addition, I worked to get Staff Perm Certified as an LGBTBE Business Enterprise by the NGLCC and by the Texas Department of Transportation as a Small Business Enterprise to add validity to our business model.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Staff Perm – what should we know?
Staff Perm networks with hiring managers to bring opportunities to professionals that are unhappy in their career today.  Staff Perm provides both direct placement and temporary specialists to companies with a focus on F&A, I.T. and Healthcare. Our model is designed to decrease time to fill and add qualify, speed and efficiency to the hiring process. We partner with hiring managers and talent acquisition recruiters to really understand their pain points and challenges in finding the right resources for their needs.  Compared to most organizations, Staff Perm can apply 100% of our resources to secure talent for our customers.

In April 2017 Staff Perm received an award via the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce for “Supplier Diversity Champion” for 2016, which was sponsored by Toyota and in recognition for our Leadership in expanding opportunities for small and diverse businesses like ours.  We are very appreciative and eager to meet our next challenge.
