Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamar Marable.
Tamar, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio but now reside in Arlington, TX with my husband, son, and immediate family. After earning my Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, I decided to serve two years with City Year AmeriCorps; tutoring and mentoring high school students to increase our nation’s graduation rates. During my service years, I knew I wanted a career that I was extremely passionate about so my journey to find just that began. I’ve always loved beauty, fashion, and makeup, and after getting married myself and learning how much I enjoyed the bridal industry my makeup business was born. I started my makeup kit with literally $300 and all products from drug store brands. I did not own any foundation and would require my clients to bring their own during appointments (especially because I wasn’t well versed in various undertones at that time). And I charged only $15 per face. $15!! My story goes to show you that you can start anywhere, but whatever you do, you must start.
My self-taught skills over the past ten years have led me to grow a very loyal clientele, I’ve become a small business owner, a Retail Manager at MAC Cosmetics, and I’ve become an ambassador for other luxury cosmetic brands as well. My level of professionalism and keen eye for timeless style will have you feeling pampered and catered to for your wedding day or special occasion.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My transition into the beauty industry has been a smooth road for me. After deciding to take that leap of faith into entrepreneurship, I have experienced humbling opportunities and built lasting relationships that have pushed me to become even more passionate and skilled.
But there have been times where entrepreneurship has been rough. A great part of entrepreneurship is building the bridge as you walk across it. Making plans as you go, finalizing looks after you get started, and consistently moving through the trenches even though you may not be fully equipped to do so. My strategy has always been to keep moving and perfect it along the way.
Although I’m very skilled at makeup, I’ve had to learn business operations and logistics. Marketing, search engine optimization, blogging, photography, lighting, building clientele and more are all necessary to become a successful business owner and makeup artist. I’ve had to dedicate just as much time, if not more, to learn these areas, but thank God I’ve committed myself to a life long journey of learning. Learning never stops.

Tamar Israel Artistry specializes in providing on-site, luxury bridal makeup services, specifically glamorous looks that enhance natural beauty. My goal is to always make every woman feel like their best self on their big day. Even though bridal is my specialty, I also provide services for all other occasions and women who simply want to learn an every day makeup routine.
I am best known for being well versed in proper terminology, various techniques that can accommodate different face and eye shapes, and strong product knowledge to execute different makeup looks. Because of my skill set, I am able to curate looks based on my client’s desires and inspirations.
Being a bridal makeup artist is quite fun, yet requires a unique skill set which separates me from other specialized makeup artists. My ability to effectively complete beautiful makeup for bridal parties on time, while simultaneously working with photographers, videographers, and wedding planners is what I’m most proud of. It’s multi-tasking to the 5th degree without compromising one of the most important aspects of the bride’s day.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Professionalism and connecting with people is what is most important to my success. I’m in the business of making others feel and look even more beautiful. Without them, how can I showcase my talent?
