Meet Tammy O’Neil of the Organizer Coach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy O’Neil.

Hi Tammy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I became the Family Manager at the age of 10 and continued to hone my organizational and coaching skills throughout my academic years and parlayed my talents into a career. As a socially active young person, I was always involved in organizing, leading events, coordinating, and training volunteers, and learned that the key to success was creating efficient processes and communication.

Having family members with mental health issues and a sister that is deaf, I’ve always been interested in how the human mind works, processes information and creates ideas. Originally, my plan was to become a Special Education Teacher, however; life happened, and my plans were sidelined for a while. My Business and Communications degrees prepared me for my entrepreneurial spirit while honoring my natural God-given talents for Organization and Coaching.

As a certified ADHD Coach, (ACC) Parent Trainer (CPT), Student Success Coach (CSSC), Senior Downsizing Specialist, and a Professional Organizer that specializes in ADHD, Chronic Disorganization, and Hoarding, I combined the best of both Coaching and Organizing and created my company, the Organizer Coach.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is full of challenges and I’ve had many opportunities to learn, lean in, and fail forward.

Being a small business owner, you become a jack of all trades. I’ve learned to focus on my strengths by building relationships, training, providing superior customer service, communication, and marketing. I’ve also learned that in order to excel in my strengths, delegating my weak spots (accounting, statistics, social media… just to name a few) was necessary. I firmly believe that failure is a learning opportunity – embrace it, manage it and start again!

As you know, we’re big fans of the Organizer Coach. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
the Organizer Coach is a niche organizing and coaching business that provides specialized services for residential, small businesses, student and adult coaching, and senior move management.

As a Certified ADHD Coach, (ACC), Parent Trainer, (CPT), Student Success Coach (CSSC), Senior Downsizing Specialist (CSDS), and Professional Organizer that specializes in ADHD, Chronic Disorganization, and Hoarding, I have earned and continue to earn specialized continuing education credits to help my clients with brain-based challenges.

I’m known for my Coaching and Organizing specializations. Whether it’s coaching students with their time management and organizational study techniques, providing family management services, facilitating change behavior in a hoarding environment, or managing a senior downsizing move, I listen to my clients, meet them where they’re at, and together we create an action plan based upon their goals. I work with the client’s brain type in setting up systems that honor what is organic to the individual… Brain-based challenges, such as ADHD, Autism, Traumatic Brain Injury, Dementia, PTSD, etc. require specialized knowledge of how the brain is wired, different learning styles, and organizational styles. Coaching and Organizing is NOT a “one size fits all” service.

I also provide accountability “check-in” between our regularly scheduled sessions. During this time, we discuss client goal status – what worked, what didn’t work, and we discuss how to remove barriers. I’m honored to work with individuals that embrace their unique learning differences and learn how to flex their superpowers!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
I highly recommend researching your service, talk with professionals that have been in the industry for at least five years. I did and it made a world of difference with how I developed my business plan. Ask questions, seek knowledge and join local and national organizations that are pertinent to your industry. Knowledge is power and the more you know, the more you grow. Education is key in keeping current with your industry standards and ASK for help!

Contact your small business association and request guidance from the experts! Enlist a mentor to guide you and once you become established, pay it forward. Never stop learning!
