Hi Tanesha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Mixed Moka is my third child that I gave birth to in 2014. I started my business with graphic T-shirts with motivational sayings on them and then I branched out to clothes and accessories in 2018. My brand caters to the everyday Woman, whether you’re in misses or plus. Mixed Moka is not just a brand it’s a movement and that’s why my slogan is BE BOLD BE BEAUTIFUL BE YOUNIQUE BE U AND GET MIXED BY MIXED MOKA. I change lives and that’s why I added personal styling to the Mixed Moka brand in 2021. I’m advising you all to join the movement because I’m building confidence one outfit at a time The Mixed Moka way.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting your own business is not hard but staying in business is a bit of a challenge because you will have a lot of ups and downs and only the strong will be able to tough it out and see it through to the end. One of the biggest things that I’ve struggled with is wanting everyone to see my vision the way I see it and also wanting them to support me like I want them to support me. I overcame that obstacles by telling myself the people whose going to support me are and the ones whose not are not and that makes me have that much more love for the people who do.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Mixed Moka is a brand that I came up with to uplift and motivate women that’s why I started out with making T-shirts. I also started this business with a friend and my sister and they both branched out and started new business ventures so now it’s just me. I’m known for helping women build their confidence, especially the plus-size community because I’m a plush pal myself. I tell all the women I come in contact with you make the clothes they don’t make you and when you look good, you feel good and if your not confident in what your wearing it shows. So I help them build that confidence from the inside out that’s what my brand is about. I pride myself on helping women get out of their comfort zone by letting them know change is good and needed to elevate. One other thing I pride myself on is quality I try to give you the best product for you buck so remember that when shopping Mixed Moka.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I feel like honesty positivity good customer service and the quality of my product is what sets me aside from other brands and its also setting me up for a successful future because it will keep my customers coming back.
