Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Frazier.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tasha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My hands have been constantly moving towards bringing to life the creative images about crafts and gifts since I was a child. It brings me pleasure to make gifts that warm hearts and bring smiles. As an educator, I would oftentimes create practical gifts from scrap materials for my students and teacher teams. One day a colleague asked if I could make some of the same items for her children’s teachers for hire. I was amazed that someone wanted the items I made in bulk. I acted upon that request immediately and started venturing off into more services educators would want to support.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to the business success has not been straight and narrow. There were opportunities to grow and expand but working full-time as an educator and having a family required a few tough decisions. When my two children were younger, their needs required more time. As they grew, my time availed me to teach them a few trades to assist with client orders. When jobs were too large to complete alone, I solicited the support of my village of family, friends and fellow alumni of Paul Quinn College. There were times my parents traveled from California to lend a hand. So far, the channel of crooked roads is leading straight towards success of hundreds of baskets and thousands of chalkboards.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with A Touch of Tennille – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The request from a co-worker morphed into a homegrown business coined after my middle name, A Touch of Tennille. In 2004, the business offered services varying from interior designs to custom gifts. After realizing most of my school breaks were spent climbing on ladders and faux painting, that A Touch of Tennille option was removed from the list. Since then, affordable gifts ranged from candles to chalkboards and gift baskets. Many years later, handmade gifts have been shipped across the world to individuals and schools, including many areas between both coasts of the United States, South Korea and Germany. Today the company is happy to create items to celebrate all of life’s occasions.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
