Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Anne Neel.
Taylor, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I knew I wanted to study photography as my major during my senior year at Coppell High School. I was taking pictures of anything and everything and studying art on my own time, and trying my hardest to use what I had (at the time it was a little Canon point and shoot camera) to create my own art. Even before that, I remember very distinctively during a trip to Paris with my mom. I took a photo of a couple kissing along the Seine at sunset and thought to myself, “I’m kind of good at this.” I started art school in the fall of 2008 and never looked back!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road. I experienced backstabbing and misogyny when I first entered the industry and was directly told that I would not be hired for certain things because I was a woman. In certain aspects, I still see myself get pushed aside, but I stand tall and show those who are doing the pushing that I deserve to be there and I have the talent to back it up. Because of this, I have joined an amazing group of women that get together every month at Girl Gang Meetup where female-identifying creatives can make art together in a safe environment.

Taylor Anne Neel is a photography service that specializes in editorial fashion and wedding services. I am known for my portraits of women and making everyone feel like they can be on the cover of Vogue Magazine. I’ve worked with models, makeup artists, florists, and designers all over Dallas, but also Portland, San Francisco, and London! I’m proud that my work has been published in fashion magazines like Elegant and Opium Red, but I think I’m even more proud that those I’ve worked with have asked to work with me again. Everyone deserves to feel like a high fashion model as many times as they want!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I really want to shout out my mentor Greg Milano first off! He was one of my professors at Texas A&M University-Commerce and gave me the inspiration to constantly be my best, and to continuously improve when I know I wasn’t my best. Not to mention, he gave me my first gig in the photography industry when I graduated from college and is a stunning commercial food photographer himself. I would also love to shout out my family who had legitimately always been my biggest cheerleaders. My mom Jayne for never putting out the art fire inside of me, my aunts and uncles who have hired me for family portraits, and my cousins who have all had me photographer their senior photos, engagements, and weddings! And I would love to shout out my best friends – Lauren, Emily, Kelsey, Kellie, Caroline, Isabel, Kristie, and Colton – who have all been my models! When I was learning my ropes they were all there to let me test my skills and learn some new tricks! Finally, even though I just mentioned her, Isabel Reyna gets a double shout out for assisting me on so many shoots and always calming my pre-shoot nerves!
