Meet Tiffany Frampton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Frampton.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Yes, of course! I grew up in Anchorage, AK…not the largest city around haha but probably one with the better view. I have gone to church my whole life and at a young age I felt this calling that I was going to do something BIG for God. Of course, when you’re just a kid your imagination is endless. First, I dreamt of being a singer. My mom is very musical and I grew up watching her on the worship team. Second, once I was in 5th or 6th grade, I dreamt of being an actress – I watched a lot of Disney Channel and wanted to be just like those stars (of course, there isn’t a lot of opportunity for that in Alaska haha.)

And third, once I hit junior high I wanted to be the girl version of Shaun White. I was a big tomboy, so I was always out skateboarding or in the winters, snowboarding. But that faded away, until I realized that I had been writing poems and lyrics ever since I was 10. I had a whole folder of songs stored up! So, my dad and I loaded up in the truck, went to a pawn shop and bought my very first guitar! It was extremely big for me haha but that was probably the beginning of when I knew I was going to pursue this until it really happened.

Please tell us about your art.
I am a musician, so I create songs – lyrics and melody! Music has been a big passion of mine since I was young. I grew up thinking I wasn’t very talented at anything because I wasn’t good at school and though I was good at sports, I wasn’t the best. I never thought I had a “thing” until college when I got brave enough to share my music. People were so encouraging! I never thought music could be “my thing”.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
One thing that has kept my head up, is staying naive. If I truly understood how hard it was to create music and to actually have people listen to it, I think it’d be so easy to give up. Why put in so much hard work when the reality could be, it never goes anywhere? So, I decided that I was going to stay naive, because reality would just shut me down.

A habit that I would recommend is encourage yourself daily! Whether it’s a pep talk in the mirror, just a quiet thought or writing it down! Any artist deals with competition and it’s hard not to look at other’s think they are more talented. You are talented, never forget it! I wish I had started this earlier!
