Today we’d like to introduce you to Timeya Nenasheva.
Timeya, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my research into the benefits of microgreens when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer about four years ago. The more I learned, the more convinced I became that It was worth working into mine and my mother’s daily diets. With time, it was evident that my whole family, including my mother, was benefiting from not only the amazing amount of nutrients that is packed into microgreens but were also enjoying the flavors that we’re enhancing our meals and making food a whole new experience for us.
At the beginning of last year, my husband and I decided to share the knowledge and the amazing benefits with others and started Microgreens LLC. We are dedicated to bringing the purest, cleanest form of microgreens to our customers in the best form possible – still living and thriving with health benefits. Our operations have expanded to include subscription clients, farmer’s markets, stores carrying our product, such as Ruibal’s in Plano, and restaurant clients who work with our product to create culinary artforms that are also full of health benefits!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has truly been a journey! We love what we do and know that our product is absolutely amazing. The one thing that we have been struggling with is getting the word out and educating people about what microgreens are and what kind of benefits they can work into everyone’s diets/health/food experiences. While microgreens have been popular for a while, it is still important for us to let as many people know as possible about how they can fit into anyone’s lifestyle. It is the best way to sneak the kids’ veggies; they keep for up to 1-1.5 weeks in the fridge after you purchase, so people that travel don’t have to worry about their produce spoiling; absolutely everyone can benefit from added nutrients and vitamins that come with microgreens; the benefits are endless! We are hoping that each conversation that we have at the farmer’s markets or elsewhere will spark people’s interest to give microgreens a try since we know that once they try them, they will never look back!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Timeya’s Microgreens story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a family-owned vertical farm. We grow our microgreens soil-free, using organic seeds. Our greens contain the purest nutrients and most delicate flavors. Using nothing but water, light, and coconut pads, we are dedicated to sustainable farming and delivering the purest product to our customers in the best form possible – still living and full of nutrients!
No Fertilizers, No Pesticides, No Soil, and No Animal byproducts.
We use Organic Coco Fiber Substrate, fully traceable Non-GMO seeds, and 3x filtered water.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We are grateful that we were able to create something (our business) out of a situation that shook our whole family – my mother’s illness. We want to educate people about clean eating, importance of traceable farming, and fueling your body with what it needs to stay strong and healthy. We have been working very hard at every achievement and are determined to continue going forward. Luck is quite subjective, so in a sense, we feel very lucky and grateful to have made it so far and are only looking ahead at what is next. Each connection we make with either an existing or future customer, we hope to be fruitful and beneficial for them in getting to know a great product that has the potential to change lives and our world for the better.
- We are at the Dallas Farmers Market every weekend, where you can purchase a full pad (8-10 servings) for $10 and a half-pad (4-5 servings) for $5. Our inventory changes weekly, we accomodate custom orders and love to mix and match to fit your culinary/food lifestyle.
