Meet Todd Jenkins of Movie Mafia Productions in Downtown Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Jenkins.

Todd, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
About 17 years ago while I was working at a life insurance company a casting director asked me to be an extra in a Chuck Norris movie. Once I did that I was hooked and actually ended up doing some stunt work on the movie. Next I started acting in movies whenever I got the chance and quickly realized I liked every aspect of the business so I started learning more about various crew positions. Today I work as an actor and own my own production company where I work as a producer, camera operator, director of photography, sound mixer, and editor.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s a constant challenge because you don’t know for sure when you will be working. It’s all about the hustle, using social media, and networking with people on a daily basis. Chances are if you make plans to take a vacation or attend a special event those are the times you normally get hired to work. Also, when you’re producing a project dealing with other people’s issues and schedules can be quite hectic.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am most proud of my feature film Cherokee Creek. We have faced just about every obstacle in the world and we’ve managed to keep pushing through. On this film we had almost no crew so I had to do almost all the jobs myself. Fortunately some of the actors would assist me when they could but they were not always available to help. I think what sets me apart from others is I absolutely 100% love what I do and give it my all 24/7 no matter the project. I think the quality I put into my work shows and speaks for itself.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was a bit shy and an introvert which is totally opposite of what I am now. Whenever I got into something I always gave it my all whether it was riding skateboards or lifting weights. The one thing that’s always been constant though is my love for movies. When my friends were going out to party I would be going to see new movies on Friday and Saturday nights and would use what money I had to collect them.
