Meet Tommy Parker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tommy Parker.

Tommy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Prior to real estate, I was a Regional Manager for a clothing company. After 13 years in retail, I decided it was time for a change, so I decided to get my real estate license. I joined Keller Williams and jumped right in to start learning as much as I could. I spent most of my first few months taking classes, attending training and conventions, asking a ton of questions. I hired a coach and shadowed seasoned agents. It was important to me that I educate myself as much as possible so that I could do the best job possible for my clients.

Has it been a smooth road?
It became apparent rather quickly just how difficult it was to break into this industry and be successful. It takes a lot of patience, consistency and wine. The first six months were very trying. I questioned whether this was the right choice should I go back to retail? Should I try something else? The answer was no, so I persisted. It took some time, but eventually, my hard work paid off. My business really took off and in my first year in real estate, I became the rookie of the year at my office for the highest sales volume of all the new agents!

Please tell us about your work.
I view what I do as building relationships with people, not just selling houses. Having people trust you with their investment is a big deal and not one I take lightly! I enjoy educating people on the home buying process and helping them to make the right decision when it comes to buying and selling their homes while making the experience as stress free as possible. Aside from working with buyers and sellers, I also work with agents as a Productivity Coach in my office. I help them to get their businesses started and show them what systems and tools they need to be successful. As a member of the Associate Leadership Council at my office, I am leading our Cultural Task Force and we have big plans for community outreach to give back and volunteer in the community this year on a monthly basis.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like best – there is always something fun to do in Dallas! What I like least – tornadoes.
