Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandi D Johnson.
Sandi D, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
If I had to pinpoint a starting point, it would be 2007, which was the start of a life-changing year. During this time period within a 16- month period, my stepfather, mother, and grandfather all died. I was a single mother of three children and they were my support system. It was at that point that I took radical action. Being tired of struggling in Detroit and desire a different environment for my children. I basically threw a dart spiritually and it landed on Texas. This was in February and by July I was living in Texas. I went into education and completed my master degree in Professional Counseling. For years, I had been hiding behind being a helper for everyone. I had been planning an event for others for years and decided to step out and recreate a mother’s day tradition. So, I started the Annual Red Hot Mama’s Mother’S Day Brunch. This one-day event empowered women and helped to have a safe place to go for those who no longer have their mother’s on Earth with them. From there, I became the co-host of Beauty for Your Ashes Annual Retreat. Still hiding behind helping other’s and not fully walking in purpose.
My girlfriend group decided to do vision board on a Saturday. What started out as a fun day birthed a business and a system to create a vision board that produces results. The next year with a group of ladies I coordinated the “I Have a Dream” Vision Board event that occurred in multi states all on the same day. In 2018, I named my process the EnVision Board Experience and it is done both live and virtually.
One of my vision board goals was to “put it in writing.” I could to encourage others to achieve goals and not move on my own. So, the book “My Story, My Journey: Collateral Beauty” published with a retreat by the same name to occur in April 2020. In 2019, I stopped hiding behind being a helper and step into the purpose of my life and embraced being a Vision and Accountability Coach.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been anything but a smooth road being a single mother with more dream than financials. At the time almost allowing fear to overtake me on my purpose path. As a single mother of three, it was times that we did not have our lights on, car repossessed, divorce, and much more. The advice I would give to a young lady would be best started from a conversation that I had with my daughter. She said I always instilled in them that where we were at was not the end of the road of the final destination. We would be sitting in the dark and I would always focus on the future knowing that tomorrow was another opportunity.
Please tell us about EnVision Your Life – what should we know?
I specialize in EnVision Boards which are vision boards that produce results. It is a multi-step process that established a futurist mindset, creates a visual plan for the future and established 3 concrete goals that will be put in motion within 28 days with a Dream Keeper Relationship.
As a Vision and Accountability Coach, I help people reach their goals. So often, it is as if we are standing on the edge of a ledge looking down at our goals, purpose, and dreams. Well, I come up behind you and push you over the edge and equip you with a parachute of resources to help you land safely with your dream successful achieved.
We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
The personal development industry is very competitive and I have had my male counterpart try to put me and a box and minimize my skills. I have a very strong administrative background and have experienced individuals trying to identify me as that only. That is just one skill but not all I am purposed to do.
