Meet Trailblazer Sarah Rivera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Rivera.

Sarah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I originally fell in love with photography in high school as I learned the camera and darkroom. My husband gifted me my first DSLR for Valentine’s day in 2015. I began using it more and more each year and in 2018, I started researching the different directions photography could take me. I found one webinar diving into branding photography and immediately knew that was what I needed to be doing and started shooting for small businesses. Since I come from a background of artists and entrepreneurs, it really speaks to my heart. Now that everyone has an online presence it is even more imperative to have the visuals that match your message.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Easy path? Does that really happen?! My passion is photography but I have not yet set out to work full time as a photographer, it is coming though! I work part-time as a virtual paralegal, my first profession. I am also a mom of two. So, you can imagine that my days are filled with to-do lists but I am making the time for photography because I know it is where my heart is.  Luckily, I have an amazing support system including my Husband and family.

There’s never enough time in the day but you can choose how you use it. The year is going to pass you by anyways, take the time to move in the direction you want to be

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Creative Content by Sarah – what should we know?
I am a branding photographer. Every business is different as is their owner. I collaborate with business owners to create the imagery that matches their individual message. By creating a toolbox of photos that can be easily paired with captions it opens more time to get back to your passion, the reason you started your business. This toolbox can help you update your website or give you a variety of social media content.

What I love the most about what I do is the people. I have already met so many like-minded entrepreneurs that have such a drive and genuinely want to help others. It has given me a totally new perspective on how we should be living for others.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
The best advice comes from a quote. I tried to find the source but multiple people came up so I don’t want to state the wrong one. “Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle or end.”
