Today we’d like to introduce you to Teresa López.
Teresa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began crafting soon after my now 11yr old daughter was born. As I would prepare for her birthday parties, I noticed most stores offered similar decorations and not very unique. And THAT’S when the lightbulb turned on! So, I decided to make my own. I’ve had the honor of working several events from handmade invitations to floral arrangements for wedding ceremonies to custom nursery decor to dessert tables. It wasn’t until Spring of 2018 that I made the life-changing decision to go full throttle and sell custom handmade banners, cake toppers, & mini cake toppers. That’s when Dream Create Designs was born. With the overwhelming amount of love and support from family & friends, it’s boosted me in a way that is indescribable. It’s only up from here.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This new path I’ve taken on wasn’t easy. The biggest struggle was ME. My own insecurities and self-doubt held me back for several years. It was always easier to just say, “no one will like what I create.” So, I simply didn’t bother with it. My only advice to my fellow creatives is, TRUST your talent & don’t quit before you even begin. Whatever it is that sets your soul on fire… GO FOR IT. You owe it to yourself.

My focus with my craft is making custom cake toppers or banners that tie in with any theme. I specialize in personalized party decor that will add value to that special day. Whatever the event is, I can work with it. I offer items that you won’t see at your local party store. I take your ideas and create something designed only for you. I take pride in everything I do. Every order gets as much attention as needed down to the smallest of details. If I don’t like it, I’m starting all over again to guarantee that you’ll love your order.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
The most important advice I can give is, have FAITH in yourself. Even if there are plenty of other people in the same field as you, there’s only one YOU. Don’t hold yourself back.
