Meet Trailblazer Tiffany Jo Baker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Jo Baker.

Tiffany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I remember it like it was yesterday. I told a friend we were pregnant with our second and the look of joy and pain flashed across her face all at the same time. Right then, I realized two things. One, my friend was dealing with infertility and two, God had given me a gift. So, my unexpected journey began. Four years later, I submitted my application to a Surrogate Agency. Less than 24 hours from placing it in the mail, I received a call from the director saying she had a couple that had been searching for almost two years for a surrogate like me. That was nine years ago. Since then, I have been blessed to carry two sets of twins and one single precious baby girl for three amazing families dealing with infertility. Since my body can only handle so many stretch marks and C-sections and I’m a dream-chaser at heart, this past year, I began to focus my efforts on writing, speaking and being a coach, confidante, and cheerleader for those in the fight for their dreams, whether that be a business, blog, “BAE” or my favorite, a baby.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have definitely been obstacles and hard times along the way. Throughout my three surrogacy journeys, I experienced two failed IVF cycles, a fertility doctor that performed an unnecessary procedure on me and charged the Intended Parents I worked with four times the normal rate, an unethical surrogate agency, countless injections and more. Anytime you take a leap of faith to do something you are called to do, there will be challenges. The only way to get through the rollercoaster ride is to hold onto the vision, purpose and the “why” behind what you are doing.

We’d love to hear more about Tiffany Jo Baker.
I have a unique perspective on infertility as I carefully bridge the diverse worlds of the fertile and infertile. Although I personally haven’t had any problems getting pregnant, I have been a part of the “Trying to Conceive” Support Community since 2009. As a surrogate, I have carried five children for three amazing families, worked with four fertility clinics and underwent five+ rounds of IVF. Since I can’t be a surrogate forever, as a Life Coach with a Masters’ Degree in Professional Counseling, I now spend my time helping couples navigate the road and relationships while trying to conceive and birth their dreams. My focus is to help women and couples not just survive, but thrive thru infertility by creating and building faith, support, life satisfaction, peace, and a plan. One of the Intended Parents, I carried twins and I have recently begun Baby Blessings Ministry. Baby Blessings is a Support Ministry for couples dealing with infertility, loss and difficult pregnancies where ladies and couples can sign up to receive a complimentary Gift of Hope or Gift of Remembrance and eventually we will offer opportunities for couples to win family building scholarships for things like fertility treatments, surrogacy, and adoption.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
One of the biggest things that being a surrogate has taught me is that we all need help birthing our dreams. We each have been given unique gifts, talents, and resources. No one was created with all that they need to do all that they need to do. When we work together, a synergistic effect happens and that’s when dreams are birthed. We have the opportunity to look for and find the right people at the right time to help birth our dreams! We also get to use our gifts to help birth other people’s dreams too!
