Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Martin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up in Richmond, VA as childhood best friends, Garrett and I, as teens, would come to love bourbon either drinking with my dad or with other friends in college. We started off drinking bourbon and whiskey like Early Times, Jim Beam, and Makers Mark throughout college and into our first years out in the real world. This is where our love for Bourbon grew.
It wasn’t till the pandemic that we decided to start a YouTube channel that really focused on that love we had for bourbon. The pandemic caused a shift in the way we used to be able to connect as it made it harder to meet in person. From there, Whiskey Happens was created. Garrett, still living in Virginia, and I (Travis) living in Texas gave us an opportunity to connect from a distance on something we both have loved for years.
The YouTube channel gave us the avenue and has gained traction which has allowed us to open our website Whiskeyhappens.com. We sell Whiskey Happens merchandise along with our most recent addition, Flight Nights which allows us to provide an immersive experience for people in their homes, businesses, etc., and share that love for bourbon.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
You never work a day in your life if you love what you do and since this is a passion of ours – it’s never been a hard road per se. Both Garrett and I have corporate jobs and this is something that is growing from the side of our desks.
Content for our YouTube channel can be challenging since we both live in states where it can be harder to get new bottle releases, but overall, I feel we try to bring content that viewers want to see.

We are very proud of what we have accomplished in a short period of time being in separate states and having full-time corporate jobs. We also love the fact that we created this opportunity not only for the two of us to stay connected, the ability to make connections in our communities. We also love the fact we have set times each week to do what we love and hang out with each other.
